When he does pass away, so many media outlets will sing his praises. Yet they would never have him speak on their platforms. Even NPR removed a five minute interview with him a few years ago, right before it was set to air.

Except when it came to his habitual intellectual dishonesty in characterizing his critics, including those on the left. The more I read of his work, the more i became aware of this lamentable tendency, and the less i admired him personally, despite his unyielding moral commitment to social justice and tireless advocacy on behalf of the worlds oppressed, for which he deserves the plaudits which will be prominently featured in his obituaries.

Chomsky did not disdain media he exposed it unlike Suave says. His work highlighting the oppression of Palestinians is historical. "The Hill" is an example of how the media is "manufacturing consent" based on his classic work. That is why you don't allow pro-Palestinian views to be covered with a sense of nuance on the program. Don't salue Chomsky your role is to try to ensure that "The Hill" does not get outed. Having Suave discuss Chomsky is an full developed human genius equated to Robby's intellectual level of an ameba. lol Just kidding Suave. Why wasn't Chomsky ever on Rising? Scared?

Only by the definitions those terms have acquired in American political discourse over the last half century, in which "socialist" has come to mean economic statist and "libertarian" has come to mean market fetishist, both of which are quite distant from their original usages in the 19C. 100 years ago, no politically sophisticated person would have found anything incongruous in such a label; indeed it would have been quite mundane.

Chomsky ruined his reputation after covid due to his fear of the virus. My father and many other older people overreacted in fear for their lives, and they called for support of authoritarianism during minor bioweapon leaks. We can remember his younger legacy but also can’t forget his later legacy calling for support of authoritarianism during covid.

@@lenglain Can you provide the numbers based on Covid being the actual cause of death, and that doesn’t include other causes of death? Look it up. If you died of a motorcycle accident and they tested non symptomatic covid, it was labeled as covid. Lies.

His work on linguistics and computer science was pretty impressive. I was a CS major and he was taught in our automata class for his Chomsky hierarchy.
