Car adverts that I see usually have a car driving along a mountain track with nice lighting and some cool music. It's all about associations: They try and associate their product with wealth and success, power and efficiency, maybe also with escape from the humdrum world. That's very different from a sober recitation of the virtues of the model.

As Noam Chomsky explicates: We don't live in a market system. Nor do we have a pure free market system.... Chomsky, quoting Adam Smith, said the goal of free markets was simple. Under conditions of perfect liberty you get perfect equality.

I got a lot of respect for you for making this channel and getting these vids together. I do hope that you don't wind up being zealot with the censorship, though. That would be unfortunate.

The system we have today has govt telling the people what to do rather than the government working to the will of the people, as it should be in a democracy. We would be better off voting on issues than people. It really doesn't matter who is serving us in govt as long as they do what the people want them to do & they wouldn't be given the money to do anything more. It is time to evolve beyond the need for leaders & authority figures & create a govt based on the needs of the people & what works.

No life is worth more than another, something I think Chomsky would quickly state. Is he the greatest intellectual alive today? Perhaps. But the greatest person? No.

I actually saw another interview where he was asked about who he would vote for, his answer was: if in swing state vote for lesser of two evils(Obama) if not whoever you like, Jill Stein was his choise, would have been mine to and I can understand his lesser of two evils because Romney/Ryan seemed so evil but no I think it has gone to far for that to be effective. If I lived in the US Jill Stein would have been my choise even if Romney would have won because of my vote.

I don't get his car commercial example. Most car commercials I see show off the car's design, boast about awards it has won (which imply good quality), then talk about or demonstrate key features (such as a V8 engine or brakes that can stop on a dime). Sounds like a reasonable commercial to me. Now, car INSURANCE commercials, on the other hand...

Economists do take into account irrational behaviour, the idea of perfect information acts merely as a theoretical benchmark for normative analysis. Anyway thanks to the internet perfect information has the potential being fairly realistic. Politics is a whole other story because entrants have a facility to lie without punishment. Maybe if politicians were forced to make all public announcements under oath Democracy would be more efficient.

Chomsky is more left than right and would hate Romney's view that we should cut taxes for the rich... But he would also disagree with most of Obama's polices as well... So I doubt he plans on voting.
