The list of prominent writers for UGC NET English holds the name of Noam Chomsky as well among various other writers.
To summarize, Chomsky was unconvinced by other thinkers, like John Locke, who argued that people are born blank slates. Instead, Chomsky argued that children learning to speak cannot possibly start as blank slates because they simply don't have enough information to perform many of the complex grammatical maneuvers he observed them making. According to Chomsky, our proverbial slates cannot be completely blank when we are born; we must be hard-wired with structures in our brains, or what he called language acquisition devices (LADs). The LAD is a hypothetical tool hardwired into the brain that helps children rapidly learn and understand language.To get a glimpse of Noam Chomsky's works tune into this video.

Hi thanks for this video it was very easy to understand. My only question is regarding grammatical errors. I believe you are correct in saying children are able to use nouns and verbs correctly due to LAD however there are in my mind acceptions to the rule. This comes about when children apply past tense to a situation for example ''I went to the shops with mummy yesterday'' may be said by a child as ''I goed to shops with my mummy yesterday'' which would be incorrect even though it follows the rule of added 'ed' to a word to gain the past tense. Please let me now your thinking on this. Many thanks and appreciate your video!

i'm still confuse...
@aliakhan4840
@aliakhan4840 2 жыл бұрын
That comes from generalization of the rules by the child... The child is in learning stage and he is learning through the examples he is encountering in life. He must have observed that for past we need to add -ed at the end of the verb and thtz why added -ed after the verb go... And it is not like the child is only acquiring language through LAD , exposure too plays its part meanwhile... LAD is one the basic reasons or the components behind the language acquisition. Apart from it there are various other factors too.
