Bourdain is a leftist shill, Kissinger had nothing to do with what happened in Cambodia. What happened in Cambodia is that they were sold down the river to the Communists by Prince Sihanouk, but the Cambodian people can’t bear to blame him, as a continuing national symbol, so they blame Kissinger. I don’t hold it against them, they lost a third of their population to bloodthirsty Communist lunatics. +Rick. *As a Norwegian I would just like to tell you: NO!* Nor will slavery be taken out of our history books. Nor will the aspect that our ground law was anti Jewish for a given amount of years. Nor our positive and negative history with the Soviets (Russians today). Nor our only nuclear reactor turning out to be a science scandal. Our 25 billion US national loss investing in fracking in the US. Nor the aspect that a hippie Viking who refused to shave until he had joined Norway into one nation did so with mostly threats and violence. Humanity isnt all song and dance and we learn more historically from the negatives, I would argue... The "flaws" of the Nobel Peace Prize comity setup is actually not a flaw, but more of a feature. It is not controlled by the government, in turn it some times make strange decisions. Including some that isnt in my nations best interests ether.

@@eliknight8711 I don't want to defend Obama in any way (profoundly dislike him myself), but Kissinger was way worse, bc not only was his body count way higher, but also he, unlike Obama was imo. much more acting on his own accord, whereas Obama only ever saw himself of a "manager" of the vested interest and existing foreign politics and was a total coward towards breaking with the national security state consensus. Kissinger on the other hand was a vile power-worshipping opperative, who was in full awareness of his doing and willing to sacrifice millions of lives as mere bargaining chips to advance his own position. Case and point being the Vietnam war, whose peace talks he and the Nixon campaign intentionally sabotaged (simply in order to win against LBJ electorally, a domestic political matter!) and later even expand bombarding and mass murder into the neutral Cambodia, costing countless soldiers and civilian lives more. Also the subversion of the Chilean democracy and how exactly Kissinger orchestrated the deposing of high ranking officials such as René Schneider, who stood in the way of the subsequent coup was not only in breach of any moral code and international law/convention but also the U.S. constitution itself. He seemed pretty embarrassed at the time. He knew he got it purely because of his popularity in Norway. "Peace" is such an absurd, subjective term, anyway. The Allied soldiers in WWII killed huge numbers, yet they contributed more to international peace than anyone ever. @@Christobanistan Yeah, I might not have used the US nuclear bombing of Japan, itself arguably a war crime due to mass targeting civilians, to send a message to the USSR as an example of peace making and not a fairly explosive signal of the Cold War beginning in full swing. Especially since it's contribution to Japans unconditional surrender continues to be intensely debated, and potentially only being an additional concern on top of the Russian's, with their revolutionary record of chopping off imperial heads, invading Manchuria and with eyes on Hokkaido. In general, probably a very poor example, a war crime that signalled the beginning of US-USSR competition in earnest that would reap millions and millions of deaths in Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, and indirectly funded the devastating Cold War conflicts in Africa that the continent still arguably has yet to recover from. No, the nuclear bombings don't stand for peace but mass murder, death, and military chauvinism.

The main reason Obama got the Nobel peace prize was because of what he ran on and that people really thought he was the type of change the US needed. A "FDR 2.0" type guy and in turn the comity, under the leadership of Thorbjørn Jagland which is a bit eccentric even if he is a decent politician, gave him the prize as an attempt to have him lean more and harder towards the policies he ran on and start to play a bit more hardball etc with the senate and such to get things going. - Obviously, Obama turned out to be a red herring that in turn didnt do enough and ironically got Trump indirectly elected.
