In this video, Josh and I did our version of a beloved Annette Hanshaw tune which was originally sang by Gene Austin from the 1930 talkie hit, "Bright Lights". I have loved this song for so long along with many other Annette Hanshaw tunes from the 1930's when jazz started getting a little more syncopated. "Nobody Cares If I'm Blue" was written by Harry Akst and Grant Clarke.

Yes! Her beautiful voice does have a timeless quality. I think however, that it is the choices she makes with the phrasing that keeps this piece so interesting from beginning to end.

Wonderful comment! Allison sounds a bit more like Ruth Etting than Annette Hanshaw (maybe it's her very slight Nashville lilt) , but she's objectively better than both. This is my crafty way of saying I look forward to some Ruth Etting covers. 🙂

Just found via Algo, now Subscribed and completely BLOWN AWAY. This great-era of massive talent was on our radio (no Tee-Vee, nowhere) well-into the early 50s, and your version of STARDUST allowed an out-of-tune sing-along; unforgettable, indelible lyrics, written by another Kid from Another Galaxy, like you two are. Allison has one of the purest and most beautiful voices I have ever heard - far surpassing all those auto-tuned "talents" on the radio and KZfaq today. Allison's voice sounds so natural and pure, it's so refreshing - like listening the great female vocalists of the past before the auto-tune plague. Josh is an amazing instrumentalist. You guys make a great pair! I love the throwback style of many of the songs on Allison's channel. I especially love the lyrics and the imagery of songs like "Soup Cans And A String". And Allison's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" is unmatched. I think it's better than any other version out there past or present (sorry Judy)! And I have to say that Josh and Co's version of the "Second Arrangement" was masterful! I wish you guys much success. I am proud to say I am a supporter for your kickstarter project. Looking forward to hearing the magic!
