I may have to shut this channel down until the season starts because I'm so sick of watching the Denver Broncos get blasted. Is it because of laziness, incompetence, or do people just not like Sean Payton? Pro Football Focus listed the Denver Broncos receiving core as the 30th worst in the NFL...they fail to mention a CLUTCH performer who has never really gotten credit for how good he actually is. In this video we break down Tim Patrick, Marvin Mims and their ability to make this group jump from 30th to top 15 pretty quickly with Bo Nix calling plays that Sean Payton actually likes to run. Let me know in the comments who you think will lead the Broncos in receptions this year.

Die-Hard BRONCOS FAN since 1983. Easily one of the most anticipating seasons in recent years. The VIBE is different since Russ left. You can see and hear it in the voices of players at minicamp. Especially HC Payton. He acts like he's 10 years younger. I'm a huge fan of Patrick. I think he comes on later in the season. Not our Joker... Krull is our Joker TE1 week 1. Mark my words. Awesome show Ben.

I like the fact that the Broncos have a vastly underrated wide receiver room. The other teams believing all of the reports from national media sources won't know what hit 'em! If the Broncos are weak anywhere, it's in the secondary and LB corps. We could use some help there for sure! Shock the world! Go Broncos! There will probably be two receivers cut when the final 53 comes out if they aren't traded first. Who are you cutting out of Sutton, Patrick, Mims, Franklin, Vele, Humphries, and Johnson? Perhaps a trade to a WR needy team for more draft picks next year could be in the works? Hopefully, the Broncos can get some value in return for a player or two in the form of a 6th or 7th round draft pick (4th if they trade Sutton) because WR is most certainly not the weak point on this team. The blind, frequently sacked QB that couldn't run the offensive system was the biggest problem with the WR output last season.

Do you really think other NFL teams rely on what "the national media" thinks? I'm sorry...I don't mean to laugh...but this is quite frankly absurd. NFL teams pay big money to scout their opposition & have every possible technological, human & analytical research tool imaginable at their disposal. The idea that Andy Reid or Sean McVay is reading something said by Colin Cowherd or some PFF analyst who is probably 22 years old & has never strapped a helmet on is beyond ludicrous. The "national media"...whatever we define that as...is not a monolithic entity driven by a burning hatred for our beloved Broncos, but if you think we are unique in the kingdom of NFL fans who believe this, we're not. Go onto virtually any NFL fan forum you want to & scroll through some threads. It doesn't mater if you're talking about the perennial bottom feeders or the Brady era dynastic Patriots teams. You'll find this idea is universal throughout the NFL. EVERY fan base harbors the deep seated suspicion that "the national media" is out to get them. The truth is more complex than this quite obviously. NFL writers, broadcasters, commentators & other opinion makers for the most part really don't care one way or the other about the teams they report on. There are a few exceptions, notably former players of course. But the REAL media pros (not the ex-jocks but actual journalists) don't have time for the same kind of fanboy stuff ordinary Joes do who live & die with their teams. That's a figment of fan imagination. Now...to the receivers...you skipped one. Most Bronco fans don't really realize how immensely talented Jalen Virgil is just from a pure athletic standpoint. Bluntly, he's probably the best pure athlete on this team. He made the Bruce Feldman Freaks list for FOUR CONSECUTIVE YEARS, which is almost unheard of. The link below will demonstrate just HOW unheard of it is. Be sure to read beyond the first paragraph. milehighsports.com/new-denver-broncos-wr-jalen-virgil-is-one-of-the-nfls-freakiest-athletes/ Virgil lacks in polish what he has in raw talent, but that should not concern us too much. He played on a college team that rarely threw the ball so he slid below the radar but the #5 or #6 WR on the roster, which is what he ought to be, is a guy you stash for his return skills & future development. He's got those in spades. Aside from possessing TRUE world class speed...which I define by how a track athlete runs the 100 meters not the artificial forty time the NFL uses, Virgil might be the strongest WR in the NFL. He belongs on the roster. One of either Patrick or Sutton is expendable since they are basically the same redundant guy...a big physical X receiver who wins by contested catches but offers little in the way of a deep threat. There's a place for that. I'll leave that for others to decide...do you want the more expensive dude who seems to be itching to bounce out of here & wants to get paid like a #1 while performing like a #2? Or do you want to risk your big, high usage possession WR being injury prone but cheap? Flip a coin if you think we keep 5, or don't if it's 6. After that we have three guys who are all locks, Mims & Franklin are slot guys in the NFL. They're quick speedsters who should make hay in the slot but aren't big enough to beat NFL corners in press coverage consistently off the line. Reynolds is a pretty decent #2 or #3 guy with the size/speed combo to play outside or at the Z spot. He might have suffered from being in the shadow of St. Brown in Detroit of course. I think he's better than some realize. He looks like a lock also. If we do keep Virgil (I don't see Payton risking him on the PS, he would be gone immediately), the final spot boils down to either Johnson or Vele. My money's on Vele since he's a Payton draft pick. If you insist on keeping both Court & Patrick, then he's a PS squad candidate. That's probably what happens IMO. This group has some solid potential, but there are no current stars here. That of course, could change in a year or so, & that is really what we should be more interested in than how they perform in what is only year 2 in Payton's rebuild.

I’ve mentioned it before. But, while your research, do you think you could compile a grade on what you think second and third team players are, especially at the key positions. Everyone know, the teams with the freshest lag at the start of post season has an advantage, along with experience in their team play. I’m trying to see if Sean Payton targeting up 80%+ (prime) players at key position, for seasonal endurance. I know all teams want to do this. But I’m want to see if Sean is making it one of his top priorities. Especially being we can’t afford prime players in very many positions.

That was still a good shot/ BTW, how is your hand? Hard to say who will lead the Broncos in catches/yards this year because I'm not sure who Payton will put on the 53. He surprised me a lot last year. I hope he keeps six, but there's no guarantee and we don't know which six. The leading candidates in my opinion are Sutton, Patrick, Mims, Franklin. Then I'd like to see Virgil. I really like Johnson, but he's not so different from Tim. There are a bunch more. As far as lists are concerned, I just expect the national pundits to disrespect Denver. What's funny about the Chargers, their own media guys are pretty worried because they are truly in a rebuild. Why the national media still think they'll win so many games--it's kind of the same overvaluation they always do. Chargers and Cowboys. One or the other is a SB favorite every year.

(Native of Santa Clara, Living in Denver since 1983) I think the Broncos are in a similar place as the 49ers were in the late 90's/early 2K's. The niners had ownership issues with Mr. Debartolo being "Lawfared" and losing the team, A string of bad couching hires, and talent no one could name, and they weren't very good for several years. One brief flash under Harbaugh.. Denver lost Mr. Bollen and and pretty much went down that same path. The 49ers hired a former Bronco as GM...So did the Broncos. Now Denver looks a lot like where the niners during those out years. San Francisco wasn't good until they were. No one knew their names ...until they played like they practiced. The book is out on Broncos management...we will see how that pans out. One good thing is a head coach that has built a team from scrapes. At least he knows what it takes, and what he wants.
