You might be doing it wrong! In this video, I go over how to properly anchor with both a handheld and a wrist strap release and what to watch for to ensure that you're shooting accurately with both releases

After watching your videos and actually putting it all in to practice I’m very disappointed in my local bow shop thanks for teaching me how to be my own bow smith

Many are designed to get people setup to bow hunt . Ask them what they think about the things you learn as you will always be surprised how much they know and why they do what they do

Well, I was doing it wrong...LOL...I really appreciate this "how to" video! I was over adjusting the wrong thing. I shoot a hand held and a wrist strap for two different scenarios. I was struggling with the thumb release. Literally just watched this video, walked out into the backyard, applied what I learned here and wow. Almost shooting the same group, with both releases.

You need to create a topic like-conversations near the hedge. It's like two neighbors meeting at the fence between their plots and talking about this and that.) I didn't understand whether to press this bone to the base of the ear or just keep it there at this level.

This is mind blowing! I bought a "nock 2 it" and have not had time to get familiar with it. I just met you at TAC Oklahoma. I came home and wondered how my "nock 2 it" felt vs my wise guy. If I anchor just like you show, they are damn near perfect on the peep. Nose on the string too. Your information is amazing! I love the Nock On Yeti Cup!

First let me say that I have learned everything by myself, no teacher. A few months back I changed from a trigger release to a thumb button and got lucky and found the method you're talking about. It works great for me. The only difference for me is on the trigger release my base knuckle is in my ear (difference in face shape?). At least I know I'm getting something sort of right.

Thank you sir! Perfect timing I’ve just changed to a nock on silverback and was having a bit of trouble understanding my new anchor position from my normal wrist strap finger release, now it is great! Thanks heaps!

That's awesome that's how I've always anchored my wrist strap. I lock the knuckle in right behind the jaw between the jaw and earlobe

I needed this video on Thursday when I wanted to try my son’s Silverback hand held. I was trying to use my wrist release anchor point and, of course, it didn’t work. Thanks!

Great info. As a 30 year wrist strap release user who has historically anchored low, my concern is that placing the index finger knuckle on the ear lobe may not be as repeatable and consistent as my traditional method of putting the web of my hand between my thumb and index finger on the back of my jaw where it nestles firmly and comfortably. What are your comments on consistency and repeatability?
@nockonarchery
@nockonarchery 3 ай бұрын
I believe clearance is king. If the arrow has any contact or pressure on it then groups will suffer. The anchor needs to be repeatable but in a way the string is light in the face. The other thing that I didn’t talk about is a lower anchor means your rear elbow will be low too which plays into a different subject in correct form/ technique for pulling through properly with back tension

Great lesson! I would like to know why impact with my backstrap changes left and right when I swap with other releases I like to practice with. Maybe its the thickness change?
@nockonarchery
@nockonarchery 3 ай бұрын
There is a video coming on that. Simple answer is because the jaw opens the opposite direction so you just need to sight in to the left with it. Releases with different hook lengths or opening directions or head lengths will vary in impact

I am able to switch between my Wise Choice and my Carter Quickie Plus without any problems. I have tested this on indoor dots for score and out to 50 yards on 3-d targets. I don’t have to do anything to the bow. Apparently, I’ve shot these each so many times I unconsciously just put each release in the proper place on my face. I think maybe the secret is both are set up where I pull thru the shot completely. There’s no moving my thumb or index finger. ????

My thumb release from nock on destroys my d-loop. Is this normal?
@Makka316
@Makka316 3 ай бұрын
Note sure whether it's "normal" but I have the same issue. Also happens with my Carter wise choice (identical mechanism to the nock2it) and my 2 Smooth hinge. I've just been replacing the D-loop when it shows wear but your question has got me wondering now whether other releases do the same.

@@Makka316 I have spoken to a few bow shops and they say its a Carter problem. Carter says it is working as intended apparently. I am not sure, but I dont like having to constantly replace d-loops because if my release. I might just sell what I have and go with something else.

your anchor point at 20 yrds wont be the same at 100 if your moving the scope housing to dial distance. the only time you maintain your anchor is with a multi pin scope keeping the peep and scope centered and using the pins as hold over

The Backstrap sucks for us lefties. The Boa tightens right up on the bone. It's not reversable, it's just upside-down. So disappointed that I now doubt everything "Salesman Dud" says. It sucks how right he is. Makes it hard to hate him.
