It's because Fiddle appeals to base instincts of fear, while Nocturne is more about nightmares, visions of a cruel reality. While Fiddle desires their victims to scream in terror, Nocturne wants his victims to succumb to despair. Those are 2 different goals. But yeah, Nocturne severely lacks in attention to voice lines, lore and design in comparison to Fiddlesticks.

He's not exactly supposed to be the embodiment of fear though. That's actually fiddlesticks lol. Nocturn is supposed to feed on nightmares, which while similar comes with a large distinction. Nocturn prays on the illusion of horrid possibilities one makes in their head. Fiddlesticks is the raw terror of the realities laid before you past and present

@@aster1760 Good analysis. Nocturne plays a lot on people's self doubt and insecurity. The internalised fears that they feel because of what has happened or what might happen. Fiddlesticks knows what happened and knows you do too. Your deepest fear brought about by torment or trauma. That's what he needs on. They're similar and somewhat related but still different. Nocturne is more of trying to ensure that the seeds of despair and anguish take hold and you are left as a slave to your fear.

It’s the other way around. When Fiddlesticks sees Riven it will rasp “Guilty! GUILTY!” The response she dreads from the Ionians she inadvertently helped conquer. When it sees Lux it croaks ‘Little Light’ reminding her of Sylas’ pet name for her. A reminder of both the violence he unleashed and her complicity in setting him free. Should it meet Kindred it will growl ‘Grey Man’ meaning Kindred’s previous lonely existence. A reminder of the very lonely creature that was the Kindred, a time that the Kindred loathe and fear returning to. When it meets Garen it imitates Lux, asking him not to hate her, emblematic of Garen’s fear of Lux being outed as a mage. When it meets the other demons it calls them by name, whether knowing a demons name has some sway over them or if that’s just Fiddlesticks’ way of letting them know that it knows who they are is unclear.

I would say that Fiddlesticks is worse. Fiddlesticks reminds them of their past trauma whereas Nocturne tells them something that would be their nightmare. Basically, Fiddlesticks reminds them of something that already happened which the characters never resolved. Nocturne tells them something that has never happened. Also, Fiddlestick is much older. The only reason some champions think they can fight him is because they don't know the he is a primordial demon and is the most powerful out of all of the known demon like evelynn, tahm, nocturne and raum. I think he was actually the first primordial demon which makes him the most powerful one. Yone for example knows that Fiddlesticks is a primordial demon so in his voiceline, he despairs fighting against him.
