A Japanese translation was added to the Noh ”Tsunemasa“ that was live-streamed and performed at the Kita-ryu Oshima Noh Theater on May 14, 2021.

Noh[Tsunemasa]
In this noh, the spirit of the young warrior Taira no Tsunemasa who was felled in battle returns.
Although mercilessly killed in war, the young warrior Tsunmasa’s soul appears during a memorial service called forth by the sound of the biwa which he so loved. This noh is based on a story from the Japanese classical text Heike Monogatari (Tales of the Heike.

Thank you for the English subtitles. I will watch this many more times. The story gets more and more intense up to the end. It is haunting and filled with religious symbolism. A precious gift!

The cutting and editing need improvement, the camera angles changes too fast, very uncomfortable. Noh video shall not present in this way.

I suspect that your video director either does not like, or does not UNDERSTAND, Nō drama. The constant switching of camera views - no shot lasting more than two or three seconds! - makes it extremely difficult to concentrate on the performance. This is a beautiful play, and for it to be treated like a 'pop' concert video is not only offensive, but totally inappropriate. If you think 'dynamically edited' is attractive - or a 'selling point' - you are sadly mistaken. It is not 'fashionable', and it winds up annoying the viewer. You can do better with steady, long views. I do appreciate having the subtitles, since I do not speak Japanese. But, even as a Westerner, I love this Art Form, and was very disappointed in how this was presented. I am giving you neither a 'like' nor a 'dislike'. Coincidentally, I am reading Helen Craig McCullough's translation of 'The Tale of the Heike', so I was very interested in seeing this adaptation, but in the event, sadly let down.
