Reggio Emilia is a city in northern Italy, located in the Emilia-Romagna region. Its central location in the Emilia-Romagna region also makes it a convenient base for exploring nearby cities like Parma, Modena, and Bologna, is called "Città del tricolore" association with the Tricolor has earned in highlighting its role in Italian history and national identity.
The flag was first adopted in Reggio Emilia on January 7, 1797, during the Cispadane Republic, a short-lived state in northern Italy. The three colors were chosen to represent different aspects of the nation: green for the plains and hills of Italy, white for the snow-capped Alps, and red for the blood spilled in the Italian Wars of Independence.
Organized cheering in Reggio Emilia, as in many other Italian cities, was born in the 70s. In the southern curve of the Città del Tricolore Stadium the main ultras group is that of the Teste Quadre.
The first organized group to be born is Ultras '74. In 1977 the Ultras Ghetto were born, the group that for about twenty years would lead the reins of support in the southern curve of the Mirabello stadium.
In 1995 the Ghetto disbanded and little by little the other groups disappeared from the curve. After a period of transition, the Teste Quadre were born in 1999 from the survivors of the Ghetto, the Fedelissimi and Front, who became the driving group of the most passionate fans and are located in the Curva Sud of the "Città del Tricolore" stadium. Another important group, although no longer positioned in the Curva Sud but in the Distinti Centrali, is the Vandelli Group. Born as a small subgroup within the Ghetto, after its dissolution the Vandelli became one of the most important groups in the south curve. The origins of the Group date back to approximately the mid-80s, a period in which Reggiana, then playing in the Serie B championship, was purchased by the young entrepreneur Giovanni Vandelli. Despite good intentions and initiatives for the fans, the years under his management saw Reggiana fall to Serie C and play anonymous championships there. However, the great love for the shirt and for the club demonstrated by Vandelli established a very strong bond with the fans, who dedicated an organized group of supporters to him.
