DO NOT sleep on Nokona. They are not perfect at all right now but they do have a bright future as they recently hired what we would call a glove guru. Lets be clear... we NEVER take money from glove companies. That's just my honest input on their future.

Thanks for posting this. Love Nokona mitts (my sister, D1 catcher, used them all through high school, college, and “senior ball” after NCAA eligibility (2008,) then passed one down to my daughter who has yet to find anything she liked better. Just grabbed her a new X2-V3250 while we get my sisters old mitt relaced. Single break break in. I use a Nokona 1B mitt for men’s league ball and love it. Since I have a problem with buying gloves I don’t need, I’ve been curious about their gloves - this answered it fairly well (though I only play 1B and RF.) Good to hear they’re improving. I game a Mizuno Pro Select 12.75 that I absolutely love, and picked up an A2K 1775 this year because why not.

I grew up a Wilson fan although little league, pony league, high school, always loved the A2000 , was my favorite even over the a2k I just love the 1787 11.75 Wilson . But I had gotten a mizuno my 9th grade year as a back up glove and secondary cause I lost my Wilson for a week or two and that mizuno was the only glove I loved as much if not more than my A2000. It ended up replacing my a2000 as my gamer the following season (10th grade) and I used it until I graduated as my everyday glove .

I've switched positions lately, from 2d to first. I used to wear this nike japanese kip leather for second and I have a very traditional style Nokona mitt now. Nothing fancy (not giraffe or elephant), just top grain steerhide, super high quality material in my opinion. Still in breaking process I love it already. My new fav brand.

100% worth it for anyone not on the pro level. You see a lot of pitchers use it at the MLB level because they're comfortable, and they don't see a lot of action when it comes to catching high velocity balls. But for us filthy casuals, the gloves can and will last a lifetime. They're super comfortable, easy to break in, SMELL GREAT, and are just so well crafted. Get one if you want to treat yourself.

If I'm not mistaken these are all hand made, so the laces being a tad loose from Nokona, I really don't think tightening the laces is that big of a deal, to me that's like "tuning" or "tailoring" a glove to your liking.. idk thats rhe only part that I didn't agree with really, like I said hand made glove anything is possible, and I don't think they are catching baseballs with every glove they made so who knows maybe it seems tight at factory but once you start putting pressure on the laces is when it starts to come undone, idk just seems like a small issue that would have a logical explanation, and its really not that big of a deal at the end of the day to tighten the laces

As crazy as the price is I don’t think it’s all that dramatic when you consider what goes into making it. They are paying an American “leather expert” to put it together. It cost like 40x as much money to do that in the US than some other common countries that have glove manufacturers
@navalsealsnipersports1199
@navalsealsnipersports1199 10 ай бұрын
@@ballglovekingI think it’s more that an edgeX is an art piece. It’s like those Wilson omaha gloves that people buy and never use em. No American craftsmanship is THAT much steeper than Japan and Vietnam. If you look at other markets like furniture, the American made furniture at least has to be competitive to other pieces of the same type. The thing here is there is nothing of the same type. It’s exotic leather and the price extortion represents that more of cowboy boots made from different animals than boots simply just made here in the US. Exotics just cost several hundred dollars more than plain leather boots

@@ballgloveking the fact that it falls apart after a couple catches though…. That’s really what I’m saying here. If it held up amazing, was durable, and lasted longer than other gloves, hell yeah by all means. Nokona Fan here, the reason they are so popular & expensive is because they are mostly made in America. You can be happy that the money you are spending is going right back into pockets of families who work on them. I have 3 gloves from them now including a dropped edgeX and they are great! They have a passion for American Baseball and position their products correctly. People now do not understand that American Made products are simply more expensive because of how our economy works. I would rather spend money knowing its helping my neighbor instead of it disappearing into china.

The walnut series is not exactly super durable. It won’t fall apart but it will get super floppy. Hopefully you like that! A lot of people think that buying US made means it is higher quality. In the baseball glove world that sadly isn’t the case. Nokona makes solid gloves but they are factually lower quality than the gloves made by the best craftsman in places like Japan, Philippines, Korea…

We looked at these for my son but for $1000? Nah.... Maybe in High School if he's still loving baseball. $300 is kinda the high max for us atm.

They’re art pieces, not gameable gloves. If he’s rocking high school get him a pretty looking A2K or something. This isn’t the play for a glove to be gamed

Imagine paying $1200 for a glove just to have the ball go straight through. Ouch.

Sooooo is 2 in the pinky better in junction with 1 in the stinky? Or should you leave the stinky alone and just shove 2 in the pinky?
