Sure, and I'm up for that. Thanks to Ido and talking with other auxlangers I can already understand just about anything written in Esperanto so it's no problem for me. I like every IAL I see to a certain extent, and Esperanto is no exception.

Get back to me on that when you can use Esperanto in a cab from the airport or in hotels in most countries. I do hope that one language attains this state (including Esperanto) but until then there's no use calling any IALs "the way forward". It's like Liechtenstein calling the Vatican puny.

So Ido or Esperanto? Ido is newer right?

Ido is basically Esperanto, but reformed by a few dozen "experts" back in 1907. They removed the slavic influences and the letters with diacritical marks, and made a few hundred small reforms that achieved almost nothing. They also changed the suffix - ulo into a male suffix (some esperantists now use -iĉo for that). Ido probably has a few thousand speakers, Esperanto probably has over a million - and way more infrastructure (radio-broadcasts, youtube-videos, Pasporta Servo, software)

Maybe it was the Brazilian music, but I thought it sounded a bit like sanitized Portuguese and simplified Latin. It was more beautiful than I imagined (Anglo Latin). It still amazes me that in the 21st century the human family is so linguistically divided. To top it off, all books written in Ido are out of print!

Sorry, I just deleted your comment (hit remove when I tried to hit reply). Here's what you wrote: "get back to me when ido has anywhere near the number of speakers as esperanto. it IS the way forward... as in, it's not the NOW but it IS the future, hopefully."
@mithradates
@mithradates 15 жыл бұрын
And now to reply to that: get back to you on what? I'm not the one making any claims that Ido IS the future. Right now none of the IALs are the future, much as we'd like them to be. Here's hoping one of them succeeds.

I´am learning Lingua Franca Nova and I think that Ido and Interlingua are also cool languages... I prefer them over "mixed-language-familiy conlangs" like Esperanto and Lingwa de Planeta

@finecool1 it really does! I dont like how the plural to esperanto words have that "-oy" sound. It looks cool to have a random "-j" at the end but I don't like the sound. I prefer the word "patri" or "patroj".

Unfortunately, no auxlang will succeed. Ido is one of the best, but it's grammar still has issues. LFN is probably the easiest to learn and most regular. But, no auxlang can supplant English as the universal language. It's just too useful and it's actually pretty simple to learn, although difficult to master. As a Korean, it took me over 8 months to learn English and another year to pretty much master it. But, then again, I was very young. Anyway, I like Ido, LFN and Glossa best. Good luck.

There is no such thing as a universal language. Every language has limits as to what can be said in it
@fanaticofmetal
@fanaticofmetal 2 жыл бұрын
@@ronaldonmg Technically not, polysinthetic and agglutinative languages have basically no limits, you can make a word, verb or anything for everything. Esperanto is an example, you can basically say anything without needing many root words, Greek has more root words and a bigger/harder grammar and like Esperanto it is an agglutinative language.

Post "latine sin flexione" jen "esperanto kun strangajhoj" ! Mi proponas ke oni shanghu "-as" per "-ob", "-os" per "-gnlöfb" kaj "-is" per "-zslüb" por pli bona interkompreno internacia !

"Vu ne pensez" is a crappy russism. Why create a language in which everyone brings the trash from their own languages? Such language looks more like a public latrine than anything. All attempts to create a 'simpler' language just cutting existing features or mixing various languages without a system are doomed. Ido is much better than esperanto, but still not enough to be a language.
@fanaticofmetal
@fanaticofmetal 2 жыл бұрын
Because it's easier to do and easier to understand and study, so instead of memorizing words you can guess what they mean. Removing some unnecessary rules, Esperanto's grammar is probably the best structured to ever exist, nothing is missing except some bloody features like paradigm or conjugation based on person and gender.
