"The Devil in I" is about the changes and emotions the band experienced, when bassist and founding member, Paul Grey, died of a accidental prescription drug overdose in 2010. The video is pretty much a visual representation of the way every member was changed as a person from the death of one of their best friends, as the band had been together, with no roster changes, for 14 years, since 1996. These changes to each member were irreversible to the point where after everything smoothed over, they were, in a way, new people. Hence the analogy of death. The death of the people they were before Paul Grey's death (hence the All Hope is Gone masks), and the "rebirth" into the people they are now (hence the .5, The Grey Chapter masks on the Slipknot jamming) Metal isn't angry music, Shaq, it's emotional music (most of the time)

One of the members died, this is them shedding the old band and the rebirth of the new with the new member. Whenever they do something new, they “kill” the old masks and bring in new. While its graphic, it has a meaning.

Honestly dude you should react to more metal, love your reactions. Most people who appreciate metal usually appreciate how hard it goes or had hard times in their life so it’s a way to channel the feeling without taking it out on yourself or others lol. I was way off then lol because I interpreted the Devil In I as an emancipation from the Illuminati, a rebelling statement that claims they won't succumb to them again. After already having lost bassist Paul Gray to a OD, about 3yrs later this song was released. I think shortly thereafter, Gabrielle, the youngest daughter of a slipknot member 'Clown' Crahan also died of an overdose followed by the sudden death of the goat, Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison who died in his sleep. Simply stated, in this song Slipknot says "im not your devil anymore" and in another song it's said "charity laced with a lie", "we'll never give in" and "you'll never ever take us alive". 🖤🖤🖤

I don't expect anyone but metal heads to understand that a head of time, so if you're unaccustomed to this genre: with anything you hear from it - keep that foundational principle in mind and suddenly it all makes a hell of a lot more sense.

Bloodywood -Machi Basad has taken me from utterly pissed off to sound asleep in just a few minutes. The heavy instrumentals soothed the frustration and the happy drums put me to sleep. one of the best songs ever in my opinion.

Been a fan of slipknot since I was a kid, their break up was like the worst thing to happen to me ever at the time lmao. Then when they came back without Joey when he went to murderdolls I was so sad. Listening to Joey Jordison playing drum solos got me into Slipknot. RIP Joey! Love your vids Shaq keep being you! I am a part of the “metalhead” community and I would say we are the most caring, connected, considerate, and loving people out there. We are here to keep and real. If I’m not mistaken the men in this video aren’t being vulgar they are showing their fears. This is such a well planned out, and important symbolized video/ song and deserves the best feedback because we can all admit that this song clearly shows that A LOT of work went into the video ,and song it’s self during its production. I thought videos like these demonstrate some type of fascination towards these weird ass scenes. I've always enjoyed metal, just get turned off by too much heavy screaming and demonic ass lyrics. Although I've always been fascinated by how strong and "scary" corey could sound. Its an art of its own.
