Did not like the little nubby on the end of the shovel so replaced it with a spare I had hanging around.

malyman24 yes my late brother-in-law’s . Weathered he was not to happy when we had to bring it in. He worked hard on that thing. He said was weather proof, but alas was not.

I would have done the same thing if I had bought the Nomad but I would have cut the shaft down a few inches then the D handle, I jury rigged a quarter inch steel rod bent it into two J's place it over my pants belt to hook the shovel under the d handle so I don't have to carry the shovel as I detect. I went with the Mini Slayer and it has this huge ring/loop for a handle, pretty sure that is coming off and switched out for a D-handle. Very good job on yours, that should be much better to use.

Diggin Diggen It hummm good idea to shorten the handle. I just might do that make it same length as my lesche 31 inches. Thanks handle was a little off center anyway good tip..

@@TreasureGuy. They make deals that hold the shovels around your belt but the part that holds the shovel hangs down like three inches from your belt line so that's why I just got a steel rod, bend it in half, then on each end make a J bend then put it in a vice and twist the J's so that they hold the shovel under the D handle, just slip the jury rig over your belt and the J hooks are right at the bottom of your belt unlike the ones you can buy that hand down a couple inches, so with the jury rig you can use a longer shovel with out dragging the ground while you walk, you know plus saves on the arm from lugging it around and leaves a free arm/hand, yeah you might loose some leverage from a shorter shovel but I don't have any problems digging a deep hole, picture this your swinging, hit a target, eyeball the center, snatch the shovel off your side while still looking at the center and start cutting, when done throw it on the hooks inside blade facing out so the angle doesn't get you, it's like you hardly feel any weight being its on your waist while hunting.
