@Khay McBride Yeah; the countries of Central America have territorial tax systems.... which could be a great option for many people (though it doesn't hurt to know a little Spanish).

@Khay McBride Good comment. As an Iranian, South America and Central America would be my first destination for second passport.

As a Hong Konger, Boris Johnson basically handed us a free tier A today. Best news I’ve received all year. My only alternative Tier A option would have been the US (through marriage) or maybe Germany, but they’re not allowing dual citizenship so probably not,

Matthew Smith well it’s 5 years of living there. Even many citizenship by investment programs have requirements like that. Considering we were thinking of getting a golden visa in Portugal (also needing 5 years) and this doesn’t cost anything, I consider it free.

13:49 you nailed it! Even a tier C passport becomes invaluable if it complements the ones you have. I really believe that a passport portfolio has to be geographically and "politically" balanced, and maybe some tier C passports are the best options to implement this.

Tier C are the best passports for freedome of living. I have an algerian pass. During Corona I went there and spent one year. Best decision ever, no Corona pass, no restrictions, nothing. Everyone needs to get a Tier C pass.

I’d be interested in learning how citizenship in Germany has changed over the years. While I was in the US Army in Darmstadt in 1992, one of the guys I worked with came to work one day right before he was due to re-enlist and said he wasn’t going to re-enlist. He had a German girl friend with 2 kids and they were planning on getting married. So, he went to the local city government, paid $2-3,000 USD and became a German citizen. I assume he gave up his US citizenship because he later said he was concerned about being sent back to a combat zone if he stayed. A few months later, another guy from work ran into him in downtown working for a German telecom company.

Monty Powers regardless of anything else I don’t think German citizenship is a good one if you’re a nomad. They don’t allow dual citizenship.

@s burk Yes, but you can begin getting your own individual passports, Ma'am. Maybe later if he decides to 'wake up', he'll see that you were on the right track all along. However, my brother , 'Mr. USA USA' is like your husband and I doubt that my brother will ever change. With that type of man, you have to decide whether you want to 'go down with the ship' alongside him without an additional passport or if you want begin to take action now and hope that he follows. I know.....it's very....complicated.🤔🙄😕from A Lady Overseas

I really like this concept of visa waiver. So you need to get the visa waiver: apply online, pay, have biometric passport and be in have country that has agreements for the host country you are entering to have access to any or all your data. Which is illegal for the country you have the passport in to access unless they either doing it or allowing the foreign country do mine it as per the agreement. This is a Visa just.

You can look at the list of passports subject to the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015. Those citizens need a visa to visit the US even if they have a visa free passport.

Andrew, thank you for the interesting topics! The thing is - the more I watch your videos the more I'm stuck with the basic paradox - when you are an American it's pretty much useless to have a second passport for immediate tax benefits. You are going to pay your US taxes this way or another. So, if you are getting your second passport, it's an insurance policy for the future when you need/have to renounce your US citizenship or it's just for fun (more or less). No serious benefits for you as American. What are your thoughts on this conundrum? :)

I would choose Australia. I actually have both citizenships. Canada by birth and Australia by Naturalization. The bonus of Australia has the Trans-Tasman Travel Arrangement with New Zealand. This allows for the free movement of citizens of one of these countries to the other. Besides that both Canada and Australia are very similar…. Just the weather is different.

I'm looking into getting residence in Armenia, but I'm a little confused about authorization, legalization, notarization (equivalent of an Apostille), and translation of documents. I've searched online, and emailed the Armenian embassy in Canada for information to no avail. All they do is email back links to information I've already read online that doesn't contain information specific to Canadians, and as I am a Canadian citizen, and Canada is not part of the Hague convention, the process is extra complicated. If anyone has any tips, please let me know!
