I rent a condo for 1500Rgt (400usd)on 22nd floor with air conditioning in each room in Penang Malaysia where in the afternoon There is always sea breeze. It's a very comfortable and cheaper life for transportation you can either rent a motorcycle/scooter or have a car ,the food is cheap and many varieties and plentiful everywhere.

For the price of most American home's gas, electric, garbage, water, cable tv, internet, etc., NOT INCLUDING RENT, you can RENT a WHOLE HOUSE in Philippines or Thailand or a VERY NICE CONDO at the beach, these are just FACTS. peace from Thailand.

My family and I were in Liguria last Fall and the difference in food costs was breathtaking. It seemed to be a third the cost of what it is here in Ontario, Canada. We'd go in to a grocery store and we would be expecting a cart full of groceries to be about $150 and we would get to the checkout (and there would be a human there which was nice) and it would come to 35 euros! A bit subjective but the proof is in the pudding. Outside of touristy areas in places like Spain, France and Italy it is waheeyyy cheaper to live than here in Canada.

RE health care, point taken, and I agree mostly, but, if one has a complex condition, USA still seams like it (time from inventing and testing to market aside) has access to the most sophisticated tools, treatments, infusions, med training in the world. I say "seems like" because I do not know first hand. I have just observed my relative get access to the latest and highly sophisticated treatment for a rare condition and wonder if this particular drug and application is in other places. Anyway, good vid, good info.

last year belize was in the top 10 countries with the highest murder rates per capital in the world. i know. i didn't know that about belize either i never heard of it before and then bam it's in the top ten. that definitely needs to be a factor. and the truth is that crime is a dynamic statistic. it is shifting all the time, mostly shifting with population size and income disparity statistics. and that is all fluid. you should include crime stats in your analysis too, even though that can be very hard because of the fluidity of those variables. mexico is very enticing. but the crime rates can turn. acapulco used to the be the playground of rich an now its all cartel and that kind of crowd. gringos have deserted acapulco

The USD is not as strong as you may think right now. The EUR is about to cross the 1.10 USD to EUR mark, so well headed into reocovery, and currencies like the Mexican peso are very strong versus the USD, currently at 18.75 pesos to the USD when it historically traded at 20-22 to 1. These exchange rates, plus the high levels of inflation in the Eurozone and in Mexico make it particularly challenging to “stretch” your retirment dollars in these retirment-friendly places, especially if you want to acquire property which in many of these markets has not seen a major downward price adjustement. Perhaps over time things will turn in favour of the USD, but at this time in early 2023 when the US appears headed for recession, while Europe appears poised to avert recession and Mexico poised to grow…it just isn’t the best time to stretch your dollars in those two geographies.

You can always have residence in an EU country or something for the subsidized healthcare. Otherwise, I've used hospitals in Japan (excellent), UAE (average), Philippines (average) and Singapore (outstanding). You have your choice at different price ranges, but all were faster than waiting for healthcare back in Canada. Outside of London, the UK's healthcare isn't as bad as people say.

I will be moving back to India in few years, the health care in West especially in Europe is all fucked up big time. I am shocked to see in Ireland, only last year one 5 year old child died of Strep A throat infection. In Canada one lady died after waiting for emergency care for 8 hours. And these people were at-least middle class folks who were able to at-least basic health care, and not homeless or completely poor folks. But the situation for emergency health care is all fucked up.

Don't overlook the possible pitfalls of stepping out into a world with which you may be unfamiliar. There are plenty of ways for things to go wrong, so why not at least take initial advice from someone who has not only walked the pathway but has actively studied everything about the field for over ten years? Avoid the landmines by taking advice from those with a map.

I lived in Cairo for half a year as a study abroad student just before the Arab Spring. Cairo is a total hell-hole. There's very little "good" about it besides the ancient buildings and statues, etc. Alexandria was much nicer, but still a bit overwhelming. Egypt is extremely overpopulated and most people are impoverished, desperate, addicted to all kinds of drugs (especially the young men), and very hungry. People are extremely aggressive in public, as many want to sell things or are beggars, and will even grab you and follow you for blocks and blocks if you look like a foreigner. Sexual harassment against women is absolutely rampant, and I do not recommend any woman even set foot in this country. There are many expats and vacationers who buy homes on the Red Sea coast and kind of isolate themselves out there so they can enjoy swimming pools, beaches, and diving in the coral reefs. That sounds nice. Cairo, though, is the opposite of nice.

Andrew - What do you think of what Romania is doing to the Tate brothers? They've been held for over a month with no charges, and now a judge has granted holding them for another month. They're looking for wrong doing, but haven't found it yet. At least they have not made it known publicly what the charges are. You espouse the benefits of going to these other countries, but in America holding people without charges for that length of time would never fly. Even our bought and paid for mainstream media would eventually start questioning the legitimacy of not bringing charges in a reasonable timeframe.
