There was a very famous rest house in Kathmandu Durbar Square called KastaMandap which was unfortunately destroyed in the 2015 earthquake. This rest house was claimed to be made out of the wood from a single tree. It is said Kathmandu is named after Kastamandap. And yes you can find many historical buildings with intricate wood architecture and designs all around the valley.

Sir ji let me correct you .. Muktinath lower mustang me h .... wahan ke liye koi permit nhi chahiye ... agar aap wahan se aage upper mustang ghoomna chahte ho then 500 dollar ki fees h .

Correction: To visit Muktinath, you only require an ACAP permit which costs you 1000 NPR. However, for Upper Mustang, you must obtain a permit costing 500 dollars, which begins after Muktinath.

Nepal used to be Buddhist country during the reign of Lichivi dynasty. Most of the Buddhists vihars , stupas and Chaityas were built during the reign of Lichivi .Kathmandu or old kantipur used to be main hub of Tantric or Vajrayana Buddhism. After the mass genocide of Buddhists and Buddha dharma in India by the Hindu extremists , Buddhism was still kept alive here in Kathmandu and wide spread. There were Tantric gurus native to Kathmandu who also taught in Nalanda. In mid common era , many Buddhists masters from Nalanda such as Padmasamvhaba, Shankya Rakshita used to make their way to Tibet from Kathmandu. They used to stay here for months before they headed out to Tibet. They used to climatize and adopt cold weather before they make their way to Tibet. Most of the temples and Vihars were built by the native of Kathmandu called Newars. Most of the Newars are traditionally generational Buddhists. Most of the artifacts and statue makers here in Kathmandu were built by the locals of Kathmandu.

The Muktinath temple lies in the lower Mustang, so there's no fee to travel. But, if you travel to the upper Mustang all the way to the China border then only you'll need to buy a ticket.

@16:05 Nepali practices of Hinduism definitely surprises many, especially from India. 😅😅 But then again, who can complain, after all they were never colonised and so their practice of Hinduism never really had a direct influence. The practices are a mix of Tantric/ Shamanic/ Nature worshipping Hinduism along with regional/communal beliefs and practices based on the location.
