dog trainer here...you guys are the best for rescuing these pups! There are a couple of things that I would love to help you with 1. At this age you should be able to get about 7 hours of sleep a night. 2. Avoid puppy pads!!!! slows potty training down 3. Feed in separate bowls otherwise they learn to compete for food and eat WAY too fast. There is so much more I would love love love to help you with.

Also, I echo ALLLL the suggestions to crate train your dogs at night. In addition, maybe set up a pen outdoors for them while you work so you don't have to keep your eye on them as much, and so they learn to go to the bathroom outdoors too....It's irresponsible to adopt so many animals without doing the research on how to raise/train them

Instead of bothering with puppy pads just take the pups outside regularly as that's ultimately where you want them to go. Also puppies should learn to sleep over night, so you don't need to stay awake with them.

Have you guys researched indigenous plants that could be toxic to dogs? Might want to check around before letting the pups wander too far. I know Lola’s been all over the place, but she wasn’t a mouth-on-literally-everything-puppy. They’re so freaking cute!!! Also, that’s such a gorgeous greenhouse door!

Old farm girl here.,. Sorry guys but whatever nutrition is in your dirt it’s gonna wash right out of the soil through to the bottom of your beds and so will the good dirt. The soil will not hold the goodness in it and the straw/wood underneath will not hold the soil which will also wash away. Lastly compost that smells that bad is not yet cooked and will burn up your plants. Take a look at a raised bed composting website or something and you’ll see what I’m talking about ...don’t add your plants until your beds cook and settle. I am sorry to tell you. Good luck you doing well overall.

You say that your mom is coming for a visit. Just a suggestion. You may want to make a shower stall of sorts if you want her to use that shower. Out door showers are great, but it helps to have an enclosure so you are not standing outside buck naked. When you are young it is not so weird for you, but when you get a little older, standing outside in your altogether is not so fun.

Precious puppies. A lost puppy around 5 to 6 months old showed up at my door last night. I heard him crying outside earlier, when I went outside it was obvious that he was lost. The good boy stayed the night, perfect manners and house trained. Unfortunately I live in a pet free complex. A young lady from animal rescue picked him up today. I cried. Watching you with the puppies has helped. I can't have a dog, but just watching dogs and puppies brings such joy and peace. God be with you.

Your compost was not ready!! It should look like dirt and have a great earthy smell. You just put rotten food in your garden bed!
@tjeanvlogs9894
@tjeanvlogs9894 3 жыл бұрын
They actually fixed the issue by putting it into the beds. In those tubs they are making an anaerobic slug. By layering the slug with the manure and dry grass, they are achieving a more correct carbon to nitrogen ration and increasing the oxygen level. In a month, it will be nice black earth soil. Hint guys: if it smells bad you need more carbon (straw, dried leaves, saw dust). Also make sure it can drain and get enough air flow. Bug me if you need resources or help.

@tjeanvlogs9894
@tjeanvlogs9894 3 жыл бұрын
Not completely true. If the temp is right, meaning the mix is right and the pile is large enough, all pathogens are eliminated. I am a microbiologist and regen urban farmer. Rabbit pellets can side dress your spinach. As a general, just to be safe, a year's worth of composting is a good file of thumb. I can take the contents of a dry toilet and make food grade compost in 45 days in my set up. Still use it on the trees and bushes but that is just because the veg beds are up him on the other side of the property. And yes I have lab test to confirm my findings. These guys are new to composting but in a tropical climate. The animal bedding doesn't have a high manure load. The only addition I would do to those beds is to plant a cover crop for chop and drop. Will shade the roots of the seedlings so they get a good start. Without the mulching, the wind will dry them out.

Well, good morning, Lola crew! Glad to see y'all doing good with the new animals! And good choice on going with the hugelkultur-style beds. Nice to not have to move all that dirt. Other than the fact you had to deal with some slightly anaerobic compost haha. But nice you get to make use of the full circle of life, from ground to animal, to waste, to ground again. Hope the beds grow well for ya! Also, as much as I hate self-plugging, I'm hoping to start a tiny home community myself in New Mexico at some point and am currently documenting the process on my channel. Moving into a house slightly smaller than y'all's workshop in the next few months and am super excited for the process!
