This town looks really beautiful in blue! Nice alleys and old buildings. This city was a revelation for me. You have certainly taken the right decision in not accompanying that guy on that van. This part gives a very good exposure to the actual situation in the tourist town. The atmosphere is very engaging. However, free trade of marijuana, hashish and other drugs make it a difficult proposition to explore the town without fear. It's good that you refused to board the van taking you to the 'farm'. It's a shame that people come here for exposure to weed, rather than exploring culture and sight seeing. But this is exactly what commercial tourism does to any place. We have plenty examples ourselves too. Take care,be careful, and on to your next destination. Good luck!!

Some of the best hashish ( dry sifted ) comes from Morocco from places such as Ketama Valley, which is equivalent to our Malana Valley in Himachal Pradesh. I doubt it will make your or anyone's exploration dangerous as they love tourists.

Didn’t you sense of why marijuana & hashish are mostly offered by the locals there, well The Hippie Trail as many know it culminated in Kathmandu, Nepal in 60s but many may unaware that then most of the hippies headed to Morocco & still continue centering in Marrakech and either heading north to Tangier or southwest to Sidi Ifni along the coast. They are largely seen in the souk, or marketplaces, in Marrakech; explore the hash-heavy city of Chefchaouen, where everything is painted shades of blue and white; and jam with Jimi Hendrix in Essaouira and Diabat, where there’s still a café in his honor today and counterculture remains a strong presence. Hippies hike and camp through Paradise Valley, an area in the Atlas Mountains known for its beauty and supposed restorative and healing qualities, they can’t be seen as flower people now but they can be found enjoying city life in Agadir, which is still a bustling port area.
