As an Arabic speaker and from the land itself I can explain the real reason of this name Al-Haram. Prophet Muhammad's PBUH Mosque in Medinah and Mosque of Kabbah in Makkah are both called Al-Haram. Haram or Al-Haram basically means impermissible. So because in the boundaries of these mosques many permissible actions become impermissible. For example, hunting animals, cutting trees (except grooming of the surroundings), shouting loud, are some permissible thing everywhere. But as soon as you enter the boundaries of Al Haram these permissible things become impermissible. So basically Al Haram means "the one which make permissible things impermissible". I hope it make sense.

Although now most had given way to big highways and flyovers. Many Muslims in the world just dream of going to Madina but are not not able to make it. Pray for peace in the world. Sorry this is not the reason. As an Arabic speaker and from the land itself I can explain the real reason of this name Al-Haram. Prophet Muhammad's PBUH Mosque in Medinah and Mosque of Kabbah in Makkah are both called Al-Haram. Haram or Al-Haram basically means impermissible. So because in the boundaries of these mosques many permissible actions become impermissible. For example, hunting animals, cutting trees (except grooming of the surroundings), shouting loud, are some permissible thing everywhere. But as soon as you enter the boundaries of Al Haram these permissible things become impermissible. So basically Al Haram means "the one which make permissible things impermissible". I hope it make sense.

We call it المسجد الحرام (Al Masjid Al-Haram) and it is also called الحرم المكي (Al-Haram al Makki) and for المسجد النبوي (Al Masjid AnNabwi) we call it الحرم المدني (Al-Haram al Madni). I explained it why it's called حرام (Haram) it is because it makes many permissible actions impermissible in its boundaries.

Guys if you do not have sufficient knowledge about something please do not try to explain it in a wrong way just because you have to. It is better sometimes to stay silent than speak. Leave it for those who have the knowledge of that specific matter. I sure all of the above trying to explain why it is called Haram حرم or حرام are non Arabs or just a beginner of Arabic language.

If you pray in Masjid Quba after taking wudu....you will get the blessing of doing 1 Umrah.....Masjid Quba is the first mosque to be built with the pressence of Iman in mind....( Oneness of God) The mosque which you shown at 18:38 is the mosque were first Friday prayer was prayed and the Speech was given for the first time to the believers by Prophet Muhammed pbuh......
