Originally published Oct. 11, 2019: Carol Seppilu, an ultramarathon runner from Nome, Alaska, attempts the Leadville Trail 100 mile race in Colorado in 2019. Seppilu survived a suicide attempt 20 years ago and now breathes with a tracheostomy.
