@@mountainman8775 I got the impression from watching many interviews that a guy copying him note for note was the antithesis of ideals that Holdsworth had. Obviously the guy is an incredible player it’s just I feel maybe he missed the point.

One word: "Wow!" Alex - played well under immense pressure! Steve Hunt's key playing is majestic! Virgil's playing is flawless, and what can one say about Jimmy Johnson except stellar (as always!) Such a treat in memoriam of the loss of Allan to the earth and the music community.God's richest blessings to you all.

Allans music is always difficult to perform, but after learning it all other peaces and styles become "easy" .his approach to music was ahead of its time...or we were so behind, whatever...that guy was a musical genius. Excellent work guys !

Incredible playing! Love Your work on the new Protocol album! What a band Wow Steve Hunt, Jimmy Johnson and i met Virgil a couple times when He played with Cab. Mindblowing and so inspiring. Got to see Allan a couple times there was EPIC. RIP Allan Holdsworth

Everyone in this group is face-melting... Everything from Johnson's solid bass-line holding everyone in time, Sill's mastery of Holdsworth's style and yet adding his own style too, Hunt's silk smooth solo at the end, and Virgil's as-always-stunning ghost notes adding the right amount of flourish!

Saw Alex in Sierre, Switzerland, a few months ago with Simon Phillips..Never heard of him before... I didn't take me half of the soundcheck to have my mouth wide open and my eyes like flying saucers (yes, with the lights on !). The concert was great, every time Alex began a solo, I had thrills at the first note (and no, I'm not a guitarist..). Told Alex I discovered the hidden son of Alan Holdsworth. Great memories indeed.

This is absolutely fantastic. Superb playing by all. I transcribed this head in college. No, I can't play it! This piece is a tremendous technical challenge and the sheer feat of even tackling this piece in a way that honours AH is an achievement in and of itself. Well done. Subscribed! Peace.

Great job Alex. I had not heard your playing before... very impressive. I was fortunate to see Allan three times when I lived outside of Boston MA. The last time with him opening for Chick Corea with Gambale on guitar. As a lifelong fan I've been able to pass his music along to my guitarist son who is now a big fan as well... anyway, thank for the upload and look forward to hearing more of your playing

I also absolutely LOVE the look on Alex's face at the end of the intro solo. MAGNIFICENT! Looks at keys guy and has this" YOU'RE KIDDING ME" look! Still, he played it very very nicely indeed. I LOVED that... laugh as he is obviously thinking of how the HELL Allan did it the way he did. Its a beautifully humble expression. GREAT video

Alexander Sill Well thank you! What an incredible musician you and this band are. You and the drummer are riding rollercoasters on this and it is exhilarating. Thank you for educating me this tune is stuck in my head now and Ive checked the incredible drummer out having not known who he was and his incredible playing with the master.
