Yes, Kai's "Film: Kai," as you discovered, is a sort of teaser/sample of all the songs on Kai's solo debut album which is named Kai. As you know, Kai is considered one of the top two dancers in the entire industry and that isn't just a fan's opinion, but it's a title given to him by his peers and the industry as a whole. (Taemin from SHINee, who happens to be Kai's best friend, who is also under SM Entertainment, is the other top dancer.) There is no one in the industry better then Kai and Taemin when it comes to dancers. I think one reason why Kai's form is so good is because he originally started out as a ballet dancer. So he learned form and technique first before any other style of dance. That is why you can see such precision in his dancing. As a child he fell in love with dancing after seeing the Nutcracker and he told his parents that he wanted to do that. So, his whole fondation with dance began with ballet. But what you are seeing is the whole reason why Kai is considered one of the industry's BEST dancers, and he does it better than almost everyone. Kai became a trainee with SM Entertainment when he was about 12 and he debuted when he was 18, so he has been honing his skills and dedicating himself to become one of the best in the industry for years. (He is 27 now) And now he has literally been recognized as one of the best of the best. And not only is he an amazing dancer, but in live performances he is singing live while dancing this intensely. As a member of EXO and an SM Entertainment artist, he has trained his whole career to be able to sing live while performing high energy choreography and he can do it for hours and still sound flawless the entire time. SM is known for having some of the best dancers and singers in the industry. That is just a fact about the type of people it selects to be a part of the company. You can't be an SM artist without having amazing singing and dance skills. So even the company's rappers are unbelievable singers and dancers. All of SM's rappers were first chosen to become trainees for their vocal and/or dance skills. It wasn't until after joining the company that they learned to rap. So that is why SM's artists are some of the best vocalists and dancers -- being great rappers is just a bonus. SM is known for cultivating some of the best singers and dancers in Kpop. That is why it has gained the reputation as the vocal powerhouse of the industry. When it comes to SM, this is just the skill level we have come to expect. To understand what is happening in this video, you have to first understand EXO's concept. Everything EXO is involved in, and I literally mean almost everything, is connected in someway to their concept and storyline. EXO's MVs are kind of like a movie -- it's a movie that has been going on for the past 9 years -- since predebut -- and it has no sign of coming to an end any time soon. The one thing you have to keep in mind with all of EXO's MVs, and I really mean all of them -- including their sub-sub-unit MVs and a majority of the member's solo MVs. And because Baekhyun and Kai are involved, even SuperM's storyline -- is that they are all connected and they all tell a little more of EXO's story. Kai's EXO superpower is teleportation, so what you will see throughout his "Mmmh" MV and in some of the scenes in this teaser film, is him teleporting. If you analyse all the scenes within Kai's film you would find connections can be made to EXO's storyline and things to do with past EXO MVs and probably even future MVs, as well as SuperM's storyline. As you also know, Kai is also a member of SuperM, which is the industry's very first Supergroup. SuperM was created by SM Entertainment in collaboration with Capitol Records in the U.S. They debuted in 2019 and they are designed to bring Kpop to the U.S. market. This group features 7 of the best of the best when it comes to dance, vocals, rap and performance in Kpop. The members of SuperM are some of the absolute best from SM Entertainment's most popular groups, which includes EXO, SHINee, NCT and WayV. SuperM's concept is that they are "The Avengers of Kpop," and the members are supposed to be superhero-like characters who are coming together to form an Avengers-like group to help EXO defeat the evil Red Force. And, like the majority of SM's groups, all of their storylines and concepts intertwin and connect. Also, Kai means opening as in a door or gateway, so as a member of EXO, Kim JongIn (Kai) was given the stage name Kai because, as the center of the group, he is supposed to be the member who connects everyone together and that is why he was given the ability to teleport. Plus, as part of EXO's storyline, it is thought that the members are traveling between dimensions and time periods throughout history in their quest to find the Tree of Life and to fix all the evil and corruption that is thought to be caused by the Red Force. So, it is thought that what you see in this video is Kai traveling between dimensions and across time periods in his search for the other members and the Tree of Life, etc. That is why you see him in so many different locations and scenes in this film. There is also a fan theory that the reason why we see Kai with so many different looks and styles in these scenes is because it's not always Kai that we are seeing. Another part of EXO's storyline is that some of the members have evil alter ego clones that have been created by the Red Force. So, some theories think that sometimes we are seeing Kai's evil X-EXO clone and other times we are seeing superhero, good EXO Kai. All of the EXO members first solo songs have something to do with the fact that they are members of EXO, and their MVs and songs show them using their powers. D.O.'s recent MV "Rose" shows him using his power of force, Baekhyun's debut album City Lights and MV "UN Village" talks about his power to control light, Suho's "Let's Love" MV shows him with his power to control water, and Kai teleports all over in his "Mmmh" MV. As the first EXO member to have a solo career, the majority of Lay's solo MVs tie into EXO's storyline as well. Even in their solo work, everything EXO does is connected to their concept and storyline as members of EXO. :D Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order. So, we fans have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of everything any of the members of EXO/SuperM are involved in to try and piece it all together and figure out where each part fits within their larger storyline. And the story isn't just limited to their MVs, but it extends to everything EXO is involved in, including teaser videos, live performances, concert VCRs (videos played between sets in their concerts) and even a majority of their choreography. As you can see, EXO's and SM's Universe is extremely complicated and complex, and even the most expert of fans, has trouble following the storyline. The thing is, none of us really know exactly what is happening in the story, it's all just fan theories and educated guesses. SM has never confirmed or denied any of our theories and they have left it completely up to fans to figure out what is happening and to create the story. And oftentimes, because the story is not in order, we discover that, with the introduction of a new MV or performance, everything we thought to be true has been turned on its head and we now have to rethink everything. (We only hope that someday SM will release the book or make a movie that will explain the whole story, so we will know whether any part of our theories were correct.) There is a only an MV for "Mmmh" the rest of these songs are B-side tracks so they don't have MVs. If you want to see and hear the full versions of some of these songs, you should look up some of his live performances. As part of his promotions for his album he has also performed several of these songs, such as "Mmmh", "Reason" and "Ride or Die," live. Plus, he has dance practice videos for both "Mmmh" and "Reason" if you want to see the choreography better. There is a reason why Kai is considered one of the best dancers of all time, and you will understand even more why when you see his dance practice videos.
