Non-toxic should mean not toxic to humans, animals, aquatic and plant life after the product has been used and washed down one's septic system.

So you know about Safer Choice products? The EPA has a list of 2K products that are safer choices than most common brands. All products on their certified Safer Choice list have been tested to be as effective as their stronger chemical counterparts. www.epa.gov/saferchoice

The Lethal Dose 50 number ( LD50) is useful too. LD50 is the amount, grams per kilogram it takes to kill half of test subjects, usually mice. Gives one an idea about how toxic an ingredient is. That info is available online.

Hi Angela! What are your thoughts on "All Natural" or "Plant Based" cleaners? Are they as effective at cleaning as regular cleaners?
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
They can be yes. The EPA has the Safer Choice certified list with safer choice products that have been tested and proven to be as effective as their more unnatural competitors. www.epa.gov/saferchoice NOTE: Be cautious of the words, as many words are used for marketing purposes and many of them are unregulated. What is natural and what is plant based? Is it partially natural or partially plant based?

Hi how do you clean metal doors ?please Thank you 😊
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
When you say metal doors are you talking residential or commercial? Is it a metal door like a garage door that opens with a garage door opener, or a metal door that opens from the garage to your home and is painted? You'll treat the door for the surface type (if the door is painted - you'll clean based on the paint.) Next question is what is the soil you're cleaning? A degreaser like Krud Kutter may work if it's a painted door. amzn.to/3orIxlv

What is best to clean baby toys?
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
Hi. For toys that are not stuffed animal types- you can try a diluted solution of dish soap and warm water, then rinsing thoroughly. Or you can use one of the disinfecting sprays that are available now, like this one: amzn.to/43X3Peg (paid link). If you would prefer, you can go to the EPA's Safer Choice website and review their approved cleaning products as well: www.epa.gov/saferchoice/products. I hope this helps. 😊

Hydrogen peroxide can be found in spray bottles, now, and that works pretty well to kill most things. Rubbing alcohol works, too, but will damage painted surfaces and finished wood. I like peroxide because when sunlight hits it, it just turns into water, so very non-toxic. You can also spray with peroxide and them re-spray with straight vinegar for a stronger disinfectant. The reaction of the two is as effective as bleach but less toxic to us. I have cleaned my kitchen counters and bathrooms with all 3 options and have yet to get sick from touching those surfaces. Usually if I catch something it's a couple days after being out around a bunch of people and not keeping my hands clean enough. Also keep in mind there are normal levels of germs to have on household surfaces that won't make you sick.
