The odyssey stuff is essentially just popular characters re-imagined in a different setting or universe, usually with different backstories. Consider it separate from canon stuff like the game and arcane

the reason jinx looks different is cause yes its an alternate universe where shes basically in a guardians of the galaxy style crew. those are just different skins of characters in league. this happens to be the odyssey skinline. same thing with the light within cinematic. she is the girl with the staff named lux. its just a skin that she has ingame

league of legends skin line have different lores. League of legend's story also has their Multiverse thingy.

That last trailer, "the light within," advertised an "ultimate" skin whose gimmick is that you can decide at a couple of key points within a single match how to evolve Lux, picking an initial element (Fire, in the trailer) and then later a second that combines with the first, for a total of 10 possible colors/elements you can wield over the course of the game. As with all skins, it's purely cosmetic, but it's a fun little minigame.

Just to be clear. "Welcome aboard" is just a trailer to promote skins. The thing is that each and every single skinline (there's lots of 'em) has a lore made specifically for it, which doesn't interfere with normal lore. It's sort of like a multiverse thing and this one specifically is the "Guardians of the galaxy"-like universe😊

The reason those last two might seem weird is that they're basically promotional videos for "skins", costumes you can buy for your characters in the game. So it's not part of the story, but just some cool alternate aesthetics. The woman in The Light Within is actually an alternate version of Lux, the little sister from earlier!

"Adjacent alternate universe" is the correct call for the Odyssey skin line. It's just like Star Guardian and others in the sense that they take the same characters and use them in different settings in a comedia del arte style reapplication.

Most of us have the luxuary of a having tens to hundreds of hours looking at them so we know how they operate like the back of our hands but youre starting to hit that point too. jinx is obvious, little sister light magic is lux, pony tail swords man is yasou and big rocky mountain man is malphite, and the first three get used a lot, and malphite gets used as a stand in for "big tall guy" a lot

The odyssey trailer is a skin trailer. Riot also creates stories for the skins they develop, creating a new universe for the game's characters.

In so far as Jayce and Caitlyn, I always read their relationship as being found siblings, where their has always been the potential for that relationship to evolve into more but their actions in the lore push that possibility away. Jayce is the face of Piltover and Caitlyn is its sheriff, they both protect it but the politics of their situations is reflected in their actions. Jayce can never be seen as anything less than the exemplar of Piltover while Caitlyn is willing, and has been willing, to do whatever is necessary to protect the city and catch the criminal. This is in direct contrast to Vi, who's relationship with Caitlyn isn't restricted by the politics of Caitlyn's situation, Vi will always encourage Caitlyn to do whatever she needs to no matter what the rules may be, as opposed to Jayce who's support always reflects the politics and who's actions are limited by his great house patrons. Great reactions though, these are definitely some of my favorite animations for League and I'm so happy you enjoyed them.

You're right on the money on the "Welcome aboard" trailer. Most skins that come with a shared thematic are usually placed on an alternative universe :) Jinx is also featured in the Star Guardian universe (that you already reacted to, iirc), and the Project one. Also the last trailer is about the Elementalist skin for Lux (Garen's little sister), in which she starts in her light form as seen in the beginning of the trailer but as the game progresses she's able to switch into a new element (Air, Fire, Water, Nature) and then combine that element with one of the remainings to create a new one (in the trailer, she switched to Fire and then mixed it with Water to create Darkness)

The orb in The Light Within shows her status like in a game. She starts as light - white, as game progress she can choose one element (fire, air, water or nature) and later she can choose another one and mix it with the previous one. Here she chosen fire and than water which made purple Darkness/Chaos. When I saw cinematic myself at first I was confused aswell, but after learning the mechanic it becomes more clear what is happening. Secondly, there was nice reference from one video to another. In the The Light Within You see Lux fighting Malphite who is closer to his lore form as mountain-monster, she did her signature move - light laser towards targer. In the "You Really Got me Now" while Lux is studying she takes a break to look at the picture where she laser beam Malphite, later they meet on the battleground and fight once more. Nice little detail :D

Most of the skins are based off as alternate universe, so the jinx from "Welcome Aboard" is different than the Jinx that we know, same with the Elementalist Lux from "The Light Within"

The Light Within is a skin trailer for Elementalist Lux, which could change forms while in game just like other ultimate skins do. The only thing that separates Elementalist Lux from the rest of the Ultimate skins is because you could only change forms by filling a meter above her portrait in-game HUD by hitting your enemies with your abilities, while others could just choose randomly (Except Pulsefire Ezreal who could change form depends on your Level). Plus, you have 10 forms in one skin, but you could only use 3. The Light one which is the default, A Primary Element (Nature, Fire, Water, Air), and a Secondary Element which combines with the Primary Element. There are: Ice: Water + Wind Magma: Nature + Fire Mystic: Nature + Water Storm: Wind + Air Dark: Nature + Air / Fire + Water Hope This Helps! ;))))

You recognising characters and being hyped up by it...that right there is why these cinematics and music videos exist, and why they work for the game(s) they promote. Welcome to the club.

Lore Drop: In the Odyssey universe, Jinx used to work as an asteroid mining technician but she got fired after she blew the asteroid in half by using too much explosives. For some unknown and very questionable reason, Captain Yasuo(big ponytail guy) hired her to pilot his ship. Now, she is living the best days of her life exploring the galaxy.

Odyssey is a skin line. Like a costume. There are more of them but the ones in the cinematic where the first of their kind. It consists of Jinx. Yasuo(the captain, you often call him the big haired guy in other cinematics). Malphite( big blue guy. His the rock giant in the "You really got me" cinematic). The eye patch guy with the scythe was Kayn, and lastly the lady in hood was Sona. Similarly " Light within " is a Skin for Lux, the blonde haired magic girl in "You really got me" whom you also called the little sister.

The video that you wanted to watch on the third vid but didn't (I commend your self control haha) is the first video of the Star Guardian skin line (an alternate universe much like Odyssey where Jinx is also included). The Star Guardian skins currently has 3 videos which we currently call the Star Guardian Trilogy. The videos are (in order) Burning Bright, A New Horizon, and Light and Shadow. Its the magical girl anime genre skin line of League of Legends. Its one of the most famous skinlines in League which is why they expanded it complete with short stories (which you could read in the LoL website) which explains events occuring in between the three videos I mentioned earlier. I'm a big fan of your reactions to League and seeing you light up when you said you recognized most of the champions in that video made me happy knowing you reacted to League in the past.

The Jinx thing was an AU. Since league is a free game they go all in to promote skins when they come out, and some of the more fancy/inspired lines IE the Odessey and Lux trailers you watched get cinematics and what not. Now since you got a lil tug at the end there, all of the Star Guardian stuff is amazing and they have a few that go through the generations of the groups it's very cool

basically league of legends is free game, and developers earn money by selling alternative wardrobe/image "skin" for their champions. Some of this skins is from original universe of the game, some from "alternate" worlds, like Sailor-Moon themed, Cyborgs, Guardian of the galaxy-like, Pop-Stars world and many other. "Welcome abroad" is trailer for one of this alternate universe

Trailers like odyssey are Skins trailers basically.. they promote new in-game looks for the characters. it´s funny because you showed 3 trailers with maplphite (the giant rock guy, the space blue guy and again the giant lava mountain), 2 with yasuo (samurai guy, space samurai), and 2 with jinx and also 2 with Lux. Love it!!!

for the odyssey one it's a skin trailer so more of a alternate universe type of deal doesn't exist at the same time and place as arcane jinx

If you plan to get started on Star Guardian stuff (the video you pointed out as looking interesting in the end) then you should know there are a few videos around the Star Guardian universe that are preferably watched in chronological order to make the most sense - "Burning Bright" (2016), "A New Horizon" (2017) and then "Light and Shadow" (2019). All are rather short though, less than 4 minutes each. Most of the story background for the star guardian universe is sadly only in written form but it is the most (story-wise) developed alternative universe in League of Legends when not including KDA and similar band-stuff. The Star Guardian universe is rumored to make another appearance in League of Legends later this year.

The Odyssey cinematic was for an event within the game ^_^ Its basically just a story for the skins of the champions during that event(Jinx, Yasuo, Malphite, Sona, Kayn). Theres also the cinematics for the project ksins ^_^ its so amazing :D

definitely watch the star guardians ones. Burning Bright, a New Horizon and Light and Shadow. They aren't all the same story, and the 2nd is more of a "cut scene" but they are all solid. You may recognize some of the champs as well from other things you've watched.

As others have said, it's about selling skins, basically their mainform of income. KDA for example is just that, a whole lot of music videos to sell skins. I'm not somebody that generally buys something from free to play games but that last video for Lux and having seen it in the game made me seriously have to hold back. It's an amazing skin imo. Just so many options.

Odyssey is a skinline for some of the charakters. the ones in the trailer where Malphite, Yassuo (Samurai guy) Kayn (the assasin), Sona (the mute girl at the end) and ofc Jinx. it has nothing to do with the original universe where Jinx has blue hair. it´s more like the same chars with a different lore. the light within is similar as it features a skin. this time for Lux, garens sister. she was also the blonde girl in the "you got me" trailer and as you noticed, appeared in "warriors" as well. as others said: her skin can evolve during the game. you always start with light, as seen in the trailer. She then took the fireform and later merged with water (the fireglobe submerged in water) to form into darkness

So Odyssey is its own contained universe with its own lore and storyline. Champions have alternate skins as cosmetics to purchase as a customization option. Odyssey is one such skin line that’s like a space opera and in this one, Jinx’s hair is orange. Also, yes that is “sister” aka Lux. She’s also the one in the last video.

I like to thing that when Cait made that crazy trick shot and sensually blew the smoking barrel of her rifle he was so caught up in how hot that action was that he momentarily got lost at the sight, then when he remembered who he was looking at he had to literally shake himself to clear his head. Hi Hannah, there a Netflix series called Dota: Dragons Blood, which is based in the game Dota 2. I dont know anything about the game, but I really enjoyed the series and I think you might like it too.

Hannah, the girl in "The Light Within", is Garen's younger sister Lux (blondie with the light powers from the Warriors video). The Light Within was a trailer for her Elementalist skin, which in-game you can combine different elements to make others. Fire and Air for Storm for example.

The odyssey video was promo for an in-game event at the time. Some champions got new skins and there was even a limited time game mode you could play. These are usually just one offs unless there’s a LOT of popularity, at which point riot may bring back the event

Hey Hannah about last video, it was Elemenalist Lux, Lux's ultimate skin wich has 10 forms and also in second animation (you really got me) that was Lux with yellow hair, the one with books and she's in star guardians (one with pink hair singing about them and jinx)

The Light Within cinematic is all about a teaser of Lux's Ultimate rarity skin named, Elementalist Lux. where in game, she can change physically and change her element. but it doesn't affect her gameplay.

A lot of league's trailers are for costumes or events. Since it's free to play they make money off people buying new costumes for champions, and these champ skins are usually part of an event they promote with animations.

That Jinx is from a skin line similar to Guardians of the Galaxy. A lot of skin lines are line alternative timelines where the main theme of the skins are the factors of why those characters looks like that now. That's why the last video shows the mage (Lux) changing forms so often, because that skin line is "Elementalist" Btw Elementalist Lux is a legendary skin on the game, due to the fact that you can choose s lot of variations!

Any time you see an environment that seems different than what you expect from Arcane/League of Legends, its an alternate universe they created for skin lines. The one with Jinx as a space pirate thing was a skin line called Odyssey where they basically took a "guardians of the galaxy" vibe and put their own spin on it to make skin collections for characters you love to play. The same was true with the last one you watched.. it was for a singular skin that can transform and change colors to match different elements during the match.

Star Guardians, K/DA, and Odyssey (what you just watched), are a set of skins for certain champions that give them an entirely new background and theme. They're essentially "Alternate Universe" versions of those champions. Most skins are technically "alt universe" (don't align with the characters original theme), but the sets I specifically mentioned have their own alternate origins and story behind them. The League of Legends website itself actually hosts all of its lore in the form of comics, art, short stories, and champion biographies. They even have an interactive map of Runeterra that you can explore to get a very immersive perspective of the world everything takes place in.

Yoo she recognized multiple characters! I don't remember when I was the last time I didn't recognized someone in the trailers. What's insane is the fact that even when you know who is the character, Riot will introduce them in coolest way possible.

There are plenty of alternative universes in league, as you've guessed. They are mostly used to make the champion skins they sell more contextualized.

Odyssey - is a skins trailer and "the light within" too. Basically it's a promotional video for in-game cosmetics. They are not canon, more like alternative versions of the champions from the game, that's how they make money sinse the game is free-to-play. :)

Hey, looks like I'm the first person here for once XD Now onto the explanations: The first one I think you basically understood, but it was interesting to hear you digging into your thoughts on there relationship The second one is a trailer that focuses more on giving you a idea of what it feels like to play the game over giving you lore information, and is not cannon. Its similar to "A New Dawn" (witch I think you have watched, but if not you should) but for the mobile game Wild Rift not the base LoL game witch is only on PC. The third trailer is, I think, your first skin line trailer. Because LoL is a free to play game, Riot has to make money some how. They do that mostly by selling skins (basically a cosmetic to change how your character looks while you are playing the game). LoL does a really cool think with their bigger skin lines where they have there own, entirely separate, lore (like you said, alternative universe). This one was for the Odyssey skin line, so think something like guardians of the galaxy if you have seen that film. The Light Within is another skin trailer, but only for Lux this time (Lux is the little sister of Garen, you have seen her in a few cinematics). Elementalist lux (the skin this trailer is for) is probably Riot's most ambitious skin, because it give the player the ability to transform it in different ways throughout the game. You get to pick elements thought the game and that effects your look with a total of 10 skins in 1. I'm so glad you are starting to recognize more characters. You can maybe start to understand how hyped we get when we finally get to see some of our favorite characters show up in a cinematic (like how I got when Ornn was in The Call XD). But either way, I'm glad you are having fun figuring out the amazing world of the LoL lore. The "skins" that people are talking about are like costumes for the characters in the game, you pay for the skin and you can see the character with another appearance, as the game is free to play this is the way for Riot to obtain money. To promote the skins Riot creates a new backstory and even a whole new universe for those characters, (and trailer like the last 2). In this case Jinx, Malphite and Yasuo are in a universe like Guardians if the Galaxy having a ship, Kayn is the bad guy and the girl that appear at the end is Sona. With the pass of the time Riot continue creating skins fir the new universes, for example latter the added Zed (the red ninja of the second trailer) to the Odiseay world as a new bad guy and enemy of Jinx crew

League of Legends is big on lore, and they release new skins for characters all of the time. Each skin is basically it's own universe with it's own lore and storyline. Red-haired Jinx is from the Galaxy skins, which has that Guardians of the Galaxy vibe to it. The Arcane version of Jinx is the most up to date one of her.

If you see a character looking different it means its a skin. All skins have lore behind them. This skinline is called odyssey. Kindve a star trek/star wars type vibe

All these videos are for new game modes and in game skins so sometimes recurring characters look different. It doesn't change the original lore for any of the characters in them, more like branching paths for promotional purposes and hype.

When i see skins and trailers like this, I see League like a multiverse. It's all about what could have been.

The "Welcome Aboard" is a trailer for the Odyssey Skins. Skins in legends have their own universe which has nothing to do with the main one. Think of the Marvel Multiverse where we have Peter Parker's spider man, Gwen's spider woman, Miles Morales spider man... etc. She is still Jinx, but in this universe she is a space pirate and that's her crew, like a mix of Guardian of the Galaxies and Star Wars. The main universe is the one you know, but in each new skin they are re-imaginated in another universe. Jinx for exemple has already been a jewelry thief in the 80s, exploded some stuff at Chinese new years festival, a zombie huntress, a magical girl, a elf helper of Santa Claus, a space pirate, a cyborg, and some kind of cupid. Oof, so many jobs it almost made Barbie jealous.

Also if ur interested in characters that will very likely be in arcane season two you should look into camille and renata glasc. Camille is from a very rich piltovan family and renata glasc is a chem baroness from zaun. There are no cinematics about them but you could look into some gameplay trailers to get a look gor there characters. Two VERY interesting individuals.

Also, no they def have more of a sibling relationship. But people do wanna run with the romance stuff because its "playfulness" and that can often be seen as "flirty" as well.

Riot reeeeally invests hard on their champions "skin lines", that are basically different costumes for them. It's cool that they'll build entire alternate universes for these reimagined characters with completely new story and plots for the sole purpose of selling those skins to the players. And it works, a lot. PS: I super recommend you to see more of those!

I think if you re-watch some of cinematics you watched before seeing arcane and actual Khow the World of Runeterra, you would have a very diferent reaction! BTW I suggest seeing The Elder Scrolls Cinematics they are pretty cool and very realistic Animation too!

It's probably already been said, but in the game, each character has their base model, and then they also have 'skins' that modify their look. A lot of the times each skin will have its own lore as well. The think with League is that continuity isn't really a priority. You just kind of have to roll with it and say, "I guess this is what we're doing now."

At the rate you are going, you will became a LoL lore fan. I recomend you to watch The Mind of the Virtuoso, a very short but interesting character trailer

I didn't see anyone else say it in the Comments, but there actually was a bit more to the target practice trailer, where it shows the score, and Jayce was one target away from evening the score. Also, Caitlyn was represented by a cupcake.

You got it right with your second guess! Alternate universes! The different character skin lines all are different universes...Project, Star Guardians, and Odyssey to name a few. There are VERY few skin lines which are actually canon (like Sylas' Frejlord skin which came out with the Warriors cinematic but is actually canon).

The most simple way to describe the Odyssey thing is that it's just a skin release or just another costume. Notice her eyes were actually green? So that's what that is. Don't think too hard about the multiverse talk some people are doing lol

As far as I'm aware jayce and caitlyn have never been in a relationship and I don't think there was any hinting of one either. It was always thought there was something between vi and caitlyn even before the show but that was never confirmed. Jinx and vi weren't confirmed to be sisters until the show although there was a lot of evidence to suggest they were. Most of the characters in the show hadn't had much previous lore development besides a vague background and the dialogue they say ingame which is typically also vague
