The Hawkins measurements seem weird to me. His hands were 10.5 inches long (2nd biggest of all time) but his span was supposedly only 11 inches? Only .5 an inch difference when everyone else’s span measured well over 1 inch (some even 2) difference? Idk, it just seems weird (or inaccurate) to me. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Supposedly the furthest interval stretch on a piano has been a 13th (i.e. C7 to A8) done only by Franz Liszt and Rachmaninoff. Liszt was 6’1” and Rachmaninoff was 6’6” so unless they have the most unbelievable hand proportions of all time, I’d love to see these players see how far they could go past that.

John Stockton has hands very similar in size to Jordan, about 9.5x11.5" There's video of Stockton palming the ball on a throw in and it looks like he's throwing it right at the defender's face. The guy ducks and John just flicks it past him to a waiting Malone for an easy dunk

Very interesting video! Jerry Sloan is also worth mentioning. You should photo google him to see yourself. You can easily see his huge hands in photos both as a coach and a player (especially those in shooting motion). He had even inspired a guy some years ago to name his blog after his hands :) (Sloan Hands - it's still online!). Sloan, i suppose got some help from his palms span in defense, it's crazy that at age 31 & 32 in the end of his career, he averaged 2.4 and 2.2 steals per game. To compare the impact of this stat, John Stockton had 2.4 and 2.4 at the same age, which is quite impressive. Got to do something with it i suppose. Matt Guokas (former teammate, ex-nba coach): "He would take charges. He was physical and he was an excellent rebounder. And he had those gigantic hands. Anything he got his hands on was his."

Damn I wish I had big hands too as a basketball player who plays with people 3 to 5 inches taller than I am. If you can palm it at the rim you just go up with one hand and use the other for contact and it’ll always be an and 1.
