Wonderful - never heard this interview. All the more the more surprising since we've owned his personal (and beautiful) Steinway concert grand for the past 30 years. Sad not to have met him....

Curzon and Pelligrini get along famously and have a lot of fun. Curzon was an easy interview and brilliant conversationalist.

What a rare and excellent interview. In particular Curzon's remembrances of Landowska at Saint-Leu-La-Forêt are priceless. Landowska recorded the so-called „Coronation-Concerto” (K537), of course with her own cadenzas, and particularly beautiful embellishments in the 2nd movement. In 1956, Landowska also recorded Mozart's Rondo in a. Nadia Boulanger was not just generous, but completely unerring in her praise of Landowska's rhythm.

Love the subtle and coy mention that Landowska " lived with a handful of secretaries, companions, come what have you" followed by a chuckle. I think we know what it meant when a woman lived with secretary/companion but it wasn't polite to discuss someone's sexuality in those days.
