That way the glass brokes. And reheating makes the glass more harder.

Very pretty, but the base is so wide that it is only practical for wine consumed same-day, because unless you keep it topped off into the neck, anything within will begin degrading from oxygen due to the large internal surface area. For that reason, wide squat decanters are for table service of vintage wine (the wide bowl helps them breathe/de-gas SO2 faster), and tall slender ones are for storing stront/blended spirits.

what exactly are they doing when they roll the glass on the metal tables and stuff
@markbetz8 жыл бұрын
+Natalie Guzman The process is called "marvering." My understanding is that it smooths the finish of the glass and helps them control its shape.

@dbrooke1129 Did I say he did the art shows after high school? He did the art show circuit for several years after college. Then after years of selling out at art shows they bought the building. He designed the studio and installed all the studio equipment himself (saving much money). I'd say he has mastered that form, not to mention the detail he has put into them. They are way more complex than those bulb mini sculpters that in the videos that you have posted.

4:55 wouldnt diamond shears be an easier choice? instead of cutting it just knock it off with diamond shears? ive never done off hand so im not 100% sure what its like to do that step but thats just my thinking
@Dierwolf20008 жыл бұрын
+str8oldskool187 you'd leave big chill and stretch marks if you did that with soft, boros much more plastic like in terms of softened handling. this is more like cutting through a sponge.

my only question is the business one, how much does it take to run that furnace on a daily basis..
@immajoke339 жыл бұрын
assuming they had a gas furnace it can cost upwards of 100 dollars an hour. the two glory holes and the color boxes probably are the same if not more
@enmufti9 жыл бұрын
Weston Repola Uh,no. Rental time for studios runs around $35-40 an hour with a standard glory hole and overnight annealing.
@immajoke339 жыл бұрын
i dont know where you're working then but sign me up, i work at a studio with an electric furnace and a small glory hole and overnight annealing, hourly cost to run it it about 57 dollars an hour. if you throw in color and other supplies more. enmufti

So the air inside this kind of glass is actually.. someone's breath?
@paultyree9 жыл бұрын
c0m4ndo45 no, since the person's carbon dioxide would've been vented out and the oxygen we breathe in would be vented in

Sandwitch cat in space I very much am one. But that's good for me because 79% of women say they would go out with a nerd. Plus, nerds and geeks are becoming ever so popular. The first comic-con only had 30 people attend while the 2015 comic-con in NYC had oer 3,000,000 people attend. So it looks like I'm doing better.

Nice glass bong. How much is this? ;)
@TerryPagel9 жыл бұрын
If you marver less (none) when dropping out your neck - before the mould heat, you can get better optics. That way you can have plenty of latent heat to marver after the mould, thereby setting your optics in a way aluminum can't. Bulge up when blowing out that neck like a blown foot, too. Good job all around, though I would like to see some lift from the base to the shoulder.
