A few years ago, my buddy and I were flying his Mooney from N.J. to North Carolina. We were well east of the Washington D.C. restricted area. The Mooney had a Garmin 530 GPS display that was able to show other air traffic using transponders. After a while, you get used to perceiving how fast the other aircraft are going, just through experience. This was before it was required to have ADS-B. We were up somewhere around 7,500 ft. above sea level when suddenly I noticed another aircraft on the Garmin indicating an altitude about 4,000 ft below us and about 10 miles behind us. The thing that really got my attention was the speed the target was traveling. It was much faster than an airliner. I never saw another airplane go that fast on the Garmin. I joked and told my buddy we were being followed by a UFO. Finally, as the target merged with us, I looked down in front of the right-wing and saw an F-16. As he passed us he made a wide clearing left turn out toward the sea. We were doing nothing wrong and we were not in restricted airspace. He never came near us and if it were not for the Garmin, we might not have even known he was there. I guess even NORAD gets bored sometimes and uses general aviation airplanes for practice.

Pilots are just people (my dad is a Lt. Col f-16 instructor) and they like flying nearby and seeing other planes too, and see how fast they can pass them. It's probably slightly less boring than just flying along in the big huge sky. So it could've been that as well lol.

I flew a prisoner transport way back in the very early 90’s and we normally flew through VOLK Field air space and we would call them and get permission to pass through. On one of those trips they informed us they wanted to practice interceptions on us. In about 1 minute we had fighters coming at us from different directions. It was my first time for that and it felt like they were going to fly right up our ass. I was very impressed with how quickly they found our small aircraft. They called us “ long time dead “ on the radio as we left their air space and we asked how well it went.

My father, USAF communications officer, was assigned to Gander in the late 40’s early 50’s. His job was to send his guys out on the ice to survey potential Dew Line sites. One day his general called him up and asked him if he’d ever even been to Thule. Dad replied in the negative and following a chewing out was ordered to go visit. So he got on the next transport, flew up to Thule (“A most miserable place!”) got off the plane to smoke a cigar while they refueled, then flew straight back to Gander. Landed, called his general to report he’d “been” and got a star in his evaluation for showing “initiative.” I learned all about the DEW line when I was about 5 yrs old. Was born in Newfoundland where my parents adopted me while assigned to Gander!

They have several alternative command and control bunkers. There is Raven Rock and Mount Weather Deep command center and the Pentagon Deep Command center supposedly at over 3000 feet down and able to withstand large hits, and the Canadian Forces North Bay Control Complex which is part of NORAD, and those are just the Command and Control deep bunkers we know about. There are also some communications bunker complexes as the Warrington classified Communication center run by the CIA and the NSA, and the Mount Pony bunker at Culpepper Virginia which is where they have BILLIONS and Billions in US currency stockpiled in case of nuclear war. AND don’t forget the looking glass command and control aircraft always in the air in hardened air liners which can stay in the air, hidden, for many days with air refueling. They can run an entire war from those. And Air Force 1 & 2 which have the same equipment to run a war and air refuel. They are not called looking glass anymore but they are still in the air 24/7. I figure it for every one station we know about there are at least 2 we do not. I know we have logistical bunkers in deep caves all over the US that are full of everything from MREs to tires to computers to blankets. And I am sure they have some bunkers for bulk stationing of combat troops and of course we all know about the Project Greek Island aka The Greenbrier that was a bunker for the Congress until some bunghole of a reporter made it all public.

It's been a joint operation since the beginning. The Canadians were even present when NORAD was told to stand down by Cheney during the 9/11 attacks, which interestingly enough hasn't been commented on. Granted, I've only read down about 60 comments, but seems to me to be a huge elephant in the room. What happened during that massive failure anyway? Rhetorical question BTW. Am throwing that out there for those who refuse to wake up and realize the level of corruption that exists in our government and military command structure.

I always wondered if they noticed a jumping "star" I saw moving and stopping on a dime back around 1966 when I had young teen aged eagle eyes. It travelled from low on the horizon to almost straight overhead and would go across chunks of the sky and stop several times for a second before it slowly got dimmer and dimmer, as if it was no longer glinting the sun off of it that had set a few hours earlier. From where I was standing in the northeast U.S. this "star" must have been over Canada. If NORAD didn't detect that, they weren't doing their job that night. I wonder how high their radar's can see. They must scan high enough to see ballistic missiles in space, so they must have seen this "jumping star". What do they do when they see stuff like that? What do they do when Ageas cruisers like the USS Princeton sees "tic-tacs" at 80,000 ft. moving at 120 mph? I often wonder.

@Ben Chu yea it's a pretty cool place. There's like a little community inside the mountain. there's rumor around my city Colorado springs, saying there's nothing inside anymore, but yea right lol. There's always suspicious lights over the mountain.

"best kept secret" - so secret, in fact, that the whole world has known about its existence for decades, and thousands of articles, videos and documentaries have been made about it.

I'm pleased somebody said it. I've not even watched it yet but a title on KZfaq saying "best kept secret" is clickbait for imbeciles. Think I'm gonna unsubscribe soon as this channel is going downhill.
