Well there are the few scenes where he is outright fucking terrifying when his previous murder persona seems to shine through.. Like when he thought that other god of war and ended up killing him with those unfeeling eyes.. But ussally he is just a lovely goofball you can't help but fucking love!

Well they mentioned sponsors in some episodes i think, most animes that take sponsors take it because they don't have enough budget looking at how quality both anime and music is the anime isn't cheap and the fact that animes can be pirated really easily etc makes me think its mostly because they did not get enough budget
