HOW TO MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

I get so many comments on people wanting to see more nordic gold so that's just what today is all about. Nearly 7 kg added to the stack which is great and Friday brings me one week closer to the new place where I will be building a designated treasure room complete with dungeon style door👍🏻. Hoping to be in the new place next month so I can finally spread out all my toys. Anyway enough jabbering thanks for watching and have yourself an absolutely sensational weekend and see you all next Friday for another sneaky melt from something inside the house🤫

Just the way he does stuff, his sense of humor, the times he decides to do something a little fun instead of just bars ( and don't get me wrong, I love all the melts ) just a really fun channel and I hope he keeps going even after hitting his goal

Have I ever thought about trying this? Because of your motivation, I built my own, "backyard," version of the furnace out of a steel bucket (not as efficient so purchase one for just a little more cost). I made Nordic Gold ingots and stamped them individually as a Christmas gift to my family members. Unique and awesome experience. It amazes me how awesome molten metal looks and works when pouring. 1 tonne coming soon! Keep melting.

One of my favourite things to do is whenever there's a campfire or any kinda fire, throw copper powder in it so it'll light up green. So cool looking especially at night when all of a sudden the whole place is now light up green lol. Best way to make copper powder is just file it down with sand belt into a jug grab a handful and throw it in some flames. It'll look so amazing trust me.

What I understand is, when hot liquid metal is poured in a ingot mould, it contracts as it cools, forming a crystallization in the surface while forming a depression on the top. This crystallization process happens naturally through out the ingot as it cools. However, if you expedite the cooling process by sticking the ingot on a block of ice or in a bucket of water, you loose the natural crystallization process. When a manufacturer of knives uses Damascus steel ( which is nickel steel and carbon steel in layers ) they let the knives naturally cool because the crystallization strengthens the bonding between the two types of metals after they are shaped in their final form. Now what I dont get, is that on another KZfaq channel such as, "Shurap", demonstrates a heat treatment by simply sticking the Damascus knife into a oven for some time, and later pulls it out. This is similar process seen on another channel such as, "Alex Steele", where his videos, show the use of a oven, of a conventional kitchen stove is used to do this as well. However, either way - this does not change the crystallization of the Damascus steel since its not being reheated to a melting point - so why is it a necessary process for handcrafting a knife in this way? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Those looking like huge dice got me thinking- could you cast a full set of “D&D” dice? One 4-sided, one 6-, one 8-, _two_ 10-, and one 20-sided die is the perfect set, with one of the 10- sided die being numbered 1-10 and the other 00-90. I imagine you can just use your numbering dies to punch those in afterwards. If you do it. Thanks! That ice-block smash was epic, and I loved how long the cube just sat in there stewing. Oh, and while both dogs are adorable, I will always like Ingot best. Not only was he first, but his whole demeanor is just tops. But I’d pet him and Bullion all day long!

When you started putting together the big mold I kept thinking the blocks holding the sides together aren’t heavy enough, They’re going to be pushed apart and you’ll end up with a molten mess on your floor. Turns out for the second time in my life (maybe the third) I was incorrect. Beautiful hunk of metal you made.

Hello and thank you @bigstackD for your excellent channel! I'm Swede and we use the coin "10 SEK" that is made out of this fairly modern alloy known as "Nordic gold". I believe the alloy was invented by Finnish metal company Outukompo in the mid 1980's for the purpose of eg crafting coins. I'm not in any way skilled in the domain of metals nor chemistry, but if fascinates me how that small amount of tin can play any role in crafting the alloy? What does this small amount of tin do? Thank you and keep melting! 🇸🇪🇦🇺

First video I’ve seen where you create an alloy instead of melting single metal/element. I like it. Also the cubic shape is fine! Please create the others such as pewter, brass or bronze…

I love those dogs. They’re so darn cute and cuddly. I just want to sit in my recliner cuddling them as I watch a good movie. I’ll even share the popcorn!

17:00 About how long does it take to polish a cube that size? 18:50 Also, I have either a chuckle or a belly laugh whenever you reveal your latest "snack time" hiding spot.
