I rebuild an $8 cheap Nordic hammer and give it some awesome viking modifications.
ABOUT THE NORDIC HAMMER
I bought this hammer in the local tool store for 8$. The hammer had originally a really ugly look with a red plastic handle and some very bad metal finish.
ABOUT THE HAMMER REBUILD
I started by removing the cheap plastic hammer handle. After this I annealed the hammer head in my gas oven by heating it to over 800 degrees Celsius and slowly let it cool down. Then I grinded some way cooler angles on the hammer to make it look more Nordic. I also welded/filled up a deep stamp the producer had done in the metal and did some improvements on the metal finish, so it looks way more cool.
I hardened the hammerhead again and did a quick cleaning job after the heating process.
I gave it a nice polish on my flip table bench polisher machine and did some really cool laser Nordic Viking engravings on the side of the hammer head. I re-used an old hammer handle for this project and decorated it with a little metal piece with a Nordic viking rune on. I also burned the wooden handle with a blowtorch to give it more character. And finally I gave the handle some Nordic teak oil.
I am really satisfied with this hammer rebuild. I think that this came out Awesome and the runes and viking engravings really gives it that Nordic touch!
