"We live under the illusion that we are on a higher intellectual and spiritual level than our ancestors" It would be hard work to find a greater truth when studying history. One may be that it is written by the victors. Thank you for the insight!

The Hallstatt Warrior reminds me of the pose used by yogis for Dirga Swasam Pranayama or "three part breath." In yoga this is used to create a grounded sense of awareness. The hand position helps you be mindful of the technique's three parts of the breath, the belly, the ribs, and then the chest/collar bone. Very interesting video, thanks.

Ps: one more thing about "transe postures"/"energy" work: any technic in this field will "function" better, will have more effects, when practiced barefoot or wearing full leather shoes on real natural ground and wearing full natural clothes (no elastics, no synthetic clothings). The guys from the chanel Hands On History are good at making such kinds of outfits! Modern coton thai fisherman trousers are good too! For underwears, Rawganique is the only online shop I know that sells full coton and elastic free stuff! Our energies function better when they're fully connected to the energies of the planet, and that means electrically connected to the telluric electric phenomenas (the fact that there are electric currents in the ground is geophysics, not esoterism!). See the Earthing Institute website for more information on that (scientific studies). Any non-native electromagnetic field can also mess up with our own and with those of the Earth, so better practice those technics with no smartphone around, or at least put all "smart" devices in airplane mode! See Dr Jack Kruse for more on that. And one last thing: any foreign stuff inside the body, in the teeth, etc.. can hinder our "energies" to flow well. Some dentists know how to test for materials biocompatibility. Take care!

First I have to share that I have not seen your Seidr video yet and I am still very new to waking up (shaking off the deep sleep Christianity has put me in). You mention the spiritual journey and how you unluck this with techniques, most that are dangerous which is the point. I have had two out-of-body experiences, one as a young child after a car accident and one during child birth. The second experience affirmed in me that our soul/body has many parts and we can detach those parts. I recently found your video on Norse spirituality and you explored that very topic of different parts. It was almost disturbing how accurate you described what I already felt from my personal experiences. This has affirmed for me that I am truly waking up and has helped me embrace these instincts, ancestral memories is a better term. I wonder if I can focus and have an out-of-body experience on purpose with the precise goal of learning more about ancestral culture. I'm not sure how to word exactly what I'm asking as I don't know the words for it. It's almost like my language doesn't have a word for it. Journey to a past life? I'll practice these postures and look forward to watching your other videos. Also, thank you so much for your videos. The time and passion you put into them is evident and is greatly appreciated.

The bear position is very similar to a Chinese Qi-gong position, called Ti bao, this position was used to achieve energy and control the energy called Qi, a spiritual energy of the cosmo. This energy can be used to create (Healing,exc..) or to destroy(the martial arts) Nice to see how the ancients spiritualities are similar

I received some shamanic education (some of it connected to Norse gods) and I'm amazed to discover that I instinctively use the second posture since a year or so in my meditations and self-healing. high arith. we find budda's in the north also. the knowledge of budda was there and the understanding of postures and breathing similar to yoga were known along with the concept of budda. personally i realize i live now and appreciate these concepts. if i realize now there is no reason my ancestors did not realize then. i meditate and exercise every day. meditating can be seen as a kind of praying. i lie flat on my back for at least 20 min. legs open arms by side. it's called dead man posture. breath in slow and let out slow and as tummy goes down a nice feeling of relaxation comes over u. now when relaxed think. it is that simple and it will bring great life results. ohm is a relaxing sound and so is odin like oh--m and o--din. sharpen your sword, groom your mind, with luck u will own what ever u find. have fun and take care gare

Thank you my dear friends, as always. Yes I'm familiar with that posture but I've never tried that one, I confess, but I will give it a go, thank you for your insight. It's always important to take in mind that the things we come about don't make us special because we feel we are on to something because of our "Sophisticated modern minds". As you said, the ancestors most likely came to realize the same things and even more; they were just like us with a mind of their own and great life experiences. Keep up the good work btw, I do enjoy your videos! ^^

Just my opinion on the last posture. As a self-taught/armature practitioner of seidr, I think the last one could have been used during labor of a pregnant woman. Freyja, as a fertility God, was probably called upon heavily during birth to ensure a safe, healthy labor for mother and baby, so it could have been used in late pregnancy or labor, holding the womb (Freyja’s domain) almost like a call to her, or to channel her strength through the mother. I don’t think it would be far fetched to think there was a posture specifically for pregnant women to call on Freyja before the painful ordeal of labor. Let’s not forget, Freyja was a war God as well, and for many women, labor was probably the most painful and scary thing they went through (seeing as, historically, many women died during it), and was probably viewed as a solo battle to see your newborn healthy and strong. Anyway, that’s just the feeling I get; love your videos, keep up the great work, and thank you for all your channel has taught me!

Thank you for these trance postures. I've been using them for several weeks. That Germanic warrior posture is very interesting. I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Teeth (dental care) are one of my triggers. When I go to the dentist I have to be sedated heavily, and I suffer for a day or so.. Today I went to the dentist and though I was sedated, I had a pretty heavy breakdown. I stayed alone, in solitude, for several hours afterwards. But after that time had passed I felt very happy --almost as if I had been liberated from the anguish. Is it possible that that warrior posture is intended to help warriors re-integrate into society? Just a thought.

Very interesting! F.B. Marby's, *Runengymnastik* explores meditative postures based upon the Futhark, and many of these are very clearly the same poses. For anyone curious, Thorsson's *Futhark* explores the postures of the Elder Futhark, and his *Rune Might* deals with the posture system(s), or "Rune Yoga" of the Armanen Futhark. I definitely think there is a connection here.

Arith, my good friend, I had to revisit this video because I have just had an inspiration. 22:30 ish Friday night and I'm on my eternal quest for knowledge and believe me when I find that tree I WILL HANG FROM IT FOR NINE DAYS AND NINE NIGHTS. However back to my tale, during further runic study and it occurred to me that the positions could be depicting runic forms, that the shaman became the rune for some divinational purpose, maybe invoking the power of the rune and it's magic, whilst uttering a galdr. Perhaps they did this when forming and charging a galdrastafr. Snorri only gave us two stanzas to describe the finding of the runes so I believe that he only had part of the story but he does go on to say the uses that Odinn had for the runes so I am convinced that Odinns search was for the means to communicate the hidden magic in the rune chants and not the symbols of writing. I value your comments on my thoughts.

Isn't that Freyr beard tug attested to in the sagas? Tugging the beard upon oaths or in solemn moments? I can't remember where I read it but it may not be a trance pose, could be related to some other divine aspect. Also do you think the Anglo-Saxon 'Spong man' on the urn could be a depiction of a trance state? Thanks!

That first 5 minutes - damn!!! I just want that as an audio clip I can randomly and regularly post haphazardly all over social media! I've been enjoying your videos so much, but I couldn't pass yelling a "here-here"! Also, I am now curious about that last posture with Frejya being pregnant...I wonder how that pose could possibly apply to labor, either bringing on labor or trying to make it come quicker due to bearing down or squatting and pushing a little. In theory, I could also see this position encouraging babies who are facing the wrong way (yep, they can be "backwards" which makes labor more uncomfortable [not to be confused with being breeched]) to maybe turn because of the "space" being created and even the hands on the belly representing pushing. It could be compared to turning a breached baby but instead of the problem being the baby is feet down it's more they are head down but facing forward and the preferred position is the baby facing the back (this is due to the bone structure of the baby's face and head in relation to the mom's pelvis, especially the sacrum).

On the Freya a lot of statues when it comes to spiritual postures with large bellies are representing being full of power. Like the laughing Buddha hotei. This could be another consideration. Like you I'm a researcher, but my degree is in education. Your very correct these postures are similar to hathic yoga practice postures and chi kung from Shaolin.

Materialism and interlectual snobbery does indeed blind us to our past. I enjoy your views and believe you are on the right path. Here is a norse saying which if pondered seriously can be a guide to our past. I don't know it's origin. " Through an Action, a Man becomes a Hero. Through Death, a Hero becomes Legend. Through Time, a Legend becomes Myth. Through hearing a Myth, a Man takes an Action..." I quote this because in Australia the indigenous people have their "dreaming", something modern man dismisses as myth. However, in the dreamtime stories many have been proven by archeological fact to be a true and factual account of this lands past history. Eg: The dreaming story of the great flood varified by science to be factual due to proof that the continental shelf was once above water. Anyway, I enjoy your theory that our ancestors may have been more advanced, in fact there are many who subscribe to this theory. Cheers :)

Have you ever had a talk about those transe postures with yoga or qi-gong teachers (real "advanced" ones)? People who would be used to practice various kinds of postures (such as mudras, too), perceive their effects, and who could "test" those scandinavian old ones? Some experienced "magic" mushrooms (psilocybes) users might also tell you that mushrooms are good "subtle" perceptions enhancers (very compatible with the practice of yoga, qi-gong, taï-chi...), and therefore could be a good tool to experience further! The cross legged Freyr also made me think of the Horned God Cernunnos. I've read a few things about how he could be connected to a more ancient god from India. In India, there's also Kalaripayat that I find quite interesting, a form of "martial yoga" (called the mother of martial arts) that can be practiced with a long staff!

The Freya depiction also looks like she is hanging onto her cats or dragons, their heads attached to her shoulders.

I could be totally wrong, but the pregnant Freya figure gives me the impression of a woman in labor holding her arms in pain trying to give birth.

I still watch these, but my time has become drastically shortened for having a full time job. I rarely can just sit and contemplate and leave paragraphs worth of text. In any case, it might interest you to know that, when I was a child, I would hallucinate while lying in bed. I would see blue and gray hazes in my room, and I would see transparent green sheets on the walls. I would often feel like "I was on a boat" while lying in bed as well. I enjoyed that feeling but was afraid of the hallucinations. I never thought to corollate one to the other, so I don't know today if these experiences went together (i.e. one before the other, simultaniously, never at the same time etc.). I have something else that may interest you, but I don't want to say it in comments, so let me know if you want me to e mail you or perhaps send u a pm via Facebook. It's not even a story, just a statement I don't want every random jerk on KZfaq to know about.

I'm very much interested in people's dreams and nightmares, visions and hallucinations, spiritual journeys and near-death-experiences. It helps me understanding my own by making comparissons. Please do send me PM on my Facebook page. Thank you.

Maybe the last one is a position to invoke labour? Do you think that the ship is mataphor for the spiritual journey? To get a real understanding of the splendour of Viking ships you have to see one "in the flesh" as photos and videos cannot do them justice. Arith in your archeology work have you seen the Lagar Velho bones at all?
5 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen the bones; neither the animal bones nor the child's bones. The owner of the property made some alterations and loads of works and he completely f***ed the archaeological strata and findings. The Museum is recent by I haven't seen it yet, so I'm nore sure what's exposed there. What exactly you want to know? And about the position of Freyja, yes good point it could be to induce labor, well pointed out. We may never know what it actually was and maybe I'm just on a sort of crazy-theory rampage. There are many indications of boats/ships being linked to the afterlife and spiritual journey, but this isn't evident in the literal sources, nothing speaks of it in the Eddas, just the death of Baldr, and little more than that. But the boat motif linked to spiritual journey is much more evident during the Scandinavian Bronze Age as it's depicted in stone engravings.

I was just curious as I am fascinated by the discovery of the hybrid sapiens/neanderthal. It's certainly evidence of interbreeding and explains our 4%. I have recently been looking into giants in myth and also bigfoot reports and I think that they are all to do with ancient memories of the time when there were more than one homo species on Earth. I think that they ae referring to erectus when they talk about the giants but I can't really tie this to Norse culture. razy theiry rampage is good as we must consider all possibilities, because as you say we may never know. I liked your speech about knowing how the ancestors thought and the arrogance of modern man. My interpretation is that when we find an ancient musical instrument we can never know what tunes were played on it.

That's something really interesting you pointed out and I was amazed because 3 weeks ago that same thought crossed my mind while reading about the time when neanderthals and homo sapiens crossed paths. Neanderthals in comparison with homo sapians were actually really tiny and home sapians really did look like a giant. So I was wondering if the tales of giants were actually created by neanderthals and passed on to homo sapians until it reached modern humans. We tell storied about giants when in truth there is the possibility that we are actually talking about outselves as we were seen by neanderthals and other human species. That exact point made me want to make a video about giants in Norse mythology and their worshipping, but that's a video for next year. Glad to know I'm not the only one with this theory about giants and ancestral memory printed on DNA.
