Actually this was a demo sound from a late 11990s rack mounted sound module. Proteus or emu. I had the module with the ruff ryders anthem strings it was a demo sampled into hip hop.

1997-1998 this is the time when beats started sounding like shit. How great was hip-hop just a couple years before (95-96) and it started degrading within two next years.

And those are the well known ones. You still had more obscure guys producing dope beats too.
