The chief constable allows him to carry on with duties, then it isn't TGA but an epileptic seizure! If this was an interview being conducted by the police on a member of the public there would be a rather large book thrown at the suspected liar.

Sounds like non epileptic attack disorder or dissociation seizures. Immediate suspension. CAT and MRI scans and forfeiture of driving license until they stop. Been there, crashed the van. Couldn't remember why. Witness statements. Cops did breath test. Neg. No license for 2 years.

If true his epileptic episode sounds like an Absence Seizure not a full blown Tonic-Clonic Seizure. The DVLA set at least a 1 year suspension of your driving licence if you have one from the last. There is provision to remove the suspension early if you can prove you only have your absence seizures whilst you are sleeping. Is the next excuse that this plod was asleep at the wheel?? 🤨

As a pedestrian I got hit by a car on the pavement, the driver had an epileptic fit, I removed the car keys and got arrested for suspicion of robbery. Some time later I treated another man for epileptic fit, I was alone and had to support him against a shop window as the alternative was to drop him. I'm trained to make safe the area around a fitting person, to switch off machinery and remove dangerous objects. If the fitting person were to be an armed police officer my training would indicate that I should disarm him. I have used .22 Lee Enfield rifles, I would be "safe" to handle a firearm, but i would feel very unsafe in possession of a loaded firearm in the street while waiting for assistance. The concept of epileptic armed police officers is absurd!

I would think that this diagnosis will greatly effect his future ability to carry out his job. In that how can he be trusted to remember any evidence he witnesses to take to a prosecution.

This is a total disgrace to policing standford needs to go along with that police commissioner.the whole thing stinks.now you can see why the general public has lost all faith and respect for them .they both didn’t have amnesia at the time of the accident . That passenger didn’t report the accident till the next morning. .why .they think public are stupid .well we not .🤬

If this Constabulary are not very careful they could be sowing the seeds of a corporate manslaughter charge. This officer should be the subject of a full medical investigation and withdrawn from driving duties until the Force Medical Adviser on advice from experts deems him fit.

I'd share my thoughts on this, but I seem to have been afflicted with transient global amnesia syndrome and can't remember watching your report. In reality I'm effin speechless apart from noticing the very 'open' epaulets on the chief constable's jacket which are no doubt that shape to get the ropes through for the puppet master who's controlling him.

You would likely have to get a doctors report but that would be pretty easy, just keep telling the doctor you don't remember. However I doubt as a civilian, the court would be so lenient

You have to have it confirmed by a neurologist a GP wouldn't be versed in it . Most GP's would be sending you of to the memory clinic for a dementia diagnosis .

I thought suffering epilepsy on its own was enough to bar a person from driving , I heard if you have a driving licence then suffer an epilptic fit you must hand your licence to the dvla . A

Sounds very much like an absence. A person can have one and not be diagnosed with epilepsy after a test . Only to go on to have one months or years later at which point a diagnosis of epilepsy will be made . However even with treatment these can occur at any time and without notice as thousands of drivers can attest to . If it's more than a year since the incident then that's why they didn't see the need to remove his Police licence . I doubt he will work as a single crew. You mentioned sleep apnea. a Doctor or the individual is supposed to notify DVLA also insurers should be told .

He was allowed to keep his license and gun permit after the first episode. As for sleep apnea, yes a person is supposed to inform the DVLA, as with many conditions, my point was that I have known the police to contact DVKA even though the driver already declared it, in a sole attempt to encourage DVLA to revoke the license as an attempt to cause someone inconvenience

@@PoliceAbusingPowers Was it just to cause inconvenience or were they concerned about the person's welfare and were confirming that the person with SA had notified DVLA . Let's face it no one likes to be told they have to abstain from what their used to doing on a daily basis and even less if it is someone in authority.
