Sean Dove I marched DCI this summer and I march on this line as well. I promise you this group compares with that level of cleanliness. And if anything of course your finals top of world class groups are gonna be cleaner, the whole summer is spent on the show music and stuff. It’s ignorant to compare that to a college drumline that has a lot more music and serves a different purpose. I love drum corps too like I said I marched but there is no need to demean the excellence of another group simply because they aren’t DCI.

Hi James, thats is great you marched this past summer, who with? I too have marched, 4 years and have won what was once called DCI's "triple crown" (World championship, High Percussion, & Percussion Ensemble at I&E). My remarks were not directed at NSU's drumline in particular. They were mainly directed at Ted Snow's comment that they were "clean AF". The fact is they aren't and I was amused that he was so impressed. Granted college marching bands will never be as good as a DCI corp, nor should they. They are both very different types of organizations with different objectives. No slight was meant towards your drum line.

It's not that he needs to, it's tradition. You see how tight they are....MDF$!

He has to step out because each section has their own cadence. It would sound pretty sloppy if he had to tap off every cadence by his self, and then the rest of the line come in.

I marched MD 4 years. through all the separate dancing everyone would not see him drop a cadence if he stood in line. The snare section leader isnt always tall, so he/she stepping out is a tradition out of function, not Just because.
