You see that fancy golden sword on the side there on Confusion? Yeah it's another gem from Mirrodin, that gorgeous start to a block that aged the balance team 10 years on release, and still keeps showing up with another flavor of BS. PS: I love that Norin returns under his OWNERS control, meaning that even if you somehow managed to steal him he's running right back home with your credit card numbers.

Even Chimney Imp, a Mirrodin card that is a meme for how weak it is, could ruin people. Put it in a Soul Foundry and have any sacrifice outlet (Nim Shambler in Limited) and you will understand why they had it cost 5 mana: somebody got locked in Draft and they overcorrected.

best part, giving them Norin, means nothing. because the moment anyone plays anything. he Dips out again. and returns to his "Owner's Control" meaning. this turns into him stealing a creature once per each player's turn as long as they did anything

I had a Norin deck for over a year until two weeks ago. Very fun, especially with Confusion on board! Genesis chamber breaks parity with his effect too. There’s a lot of fun tech in it, but ultimately only won a single game where someone basically king made me. Absolutely a treasure of a goofy boy with Hamletback Goliath, but ultimately only fun when everyone is playing Timmy magic

Once my opponent played Mirror of Life trapping. My opponent played almost no creatures and I got to double all my ETBs. They ended up destroying it, but not when my commander was in it so it was totally useless

What sticker card plays well with Norin? I play ____ Goblin in my Anhelo deck, it's pretty good. It's a ritual that doesn't trigger Anhelo and is a 2 power creature to sac.

@@jayjayhooksch1 Kinda... all of them. The stickers stay on whatever they're stuck to as that card changes zones, INCLUDING to and from exile.

@@calebbrown1068 The challenge comes from the fact that most sticker-placing cards cannot place one on him without Norin going to exile before the effect's resolution. Park Bleater has the best {T}-generation and an activated ability for placing them on a newly-entered Norin. Wicker Picker is okay, but only if you cast Norin much later. Every other sticker-related card sucks with Norin, at least in Naya. Extremely good if you can pull it off.

I have a commander deck focusing around this, genesis chamber, and purphoros. Players have six turns max before I'm hitting them for so much burn they are taking 40+ damage a turn. It ramps up like CRAZY

There was a guy at my old LGS who's favorite deck was Norin stax, confusion in the ranks, possibility storm, blood moon, winter orb, tangle wire, everything. The deck had an absolute monopoly on fun and the entire LGS hated playing against it so much that the guy built a turn 4 Sidisi combo deck to try and convince people Norin wasn't _that bad_. He did not succeed. I never understood why he thought that would work...

Buddy of mine had Confusion in the Ranks and Perplexing Chimera on the battlefield. I had Jade Mage, Sporemound, and Life and Limb. I told him, "This is how you play your deck." And proceeded to get every permanent for the rest of the game. They all got an army of 1/1 saprolings that WEREN'T forests.

Wouldn't you lock yourself into an infinite loop by just continuously creating saprolings that trigger another saproling token each time? There's no 'may' on these cards. What happens when the stack never clears?

Put a sapling/forest on the field 2. landfall gives you another sapling/forest No may ability, no opportunity to resolve the stack Short Version: Tournament rules says the person who creates and infinite loop loses the game because of a failure to advance the board state. But, at a friends table, depends on who's house you're at.

Confusion in the ranks is one of the first cards I ever discovered in MTG. It's so cursed and I love it. Also I love the flavor of Norin so much.

I pulled mine apart, but we had a good 5-year span where SOMEBODY played a Norin deck at least once every Commander night. They are full-on hilarious, but in our group, none of them are super strong, so once the novelty has worn off it's pretty easy to dome the Norin deck out of the game. I haven't seen one for a bit, but it might be fun to build one up, just for nostalgia.

A person at my LGS has a Sisay deck with Norin as a secret commander and it is Really good as it uses a lot of ETB and good luck trying to remove him he just leave when you try to uses a removal spell on him and with Sisay they can reliably get him onto the battlefield with her tutor ability.

Norin was my first commander for my mono red EDH deck. I didn't use that enchantment sadly. I switched him out for someone else. The deck was group hug + choas. Just stupid fun to pilot.

Another key point is that every time Norin comes in with Confusion up, you can trade him to another player and you get him back the next time anything happens anyway, so it's straight theft.

Norin goes well in my Marchesa, Death Dealer deck; im already doing Forsaken Miner things and there's a lot of crossover between Forsaken Miner payoffs and Norin payoffs (Satoru, Death Match, Rose Room Treasurer, Outpost Seige, Terror of the Peaks etc) and theres some other cards that Norin plays well with in the list like Tinybones Joins Up and Relic of Legends.

MY MAN NORIN one of my favorite commander decks, the very first one i put together, scales in power so fuckin' hard with more players. confusion in the ranks is good but you know what else fucks? genesis chamber. impact tremors. dash cards, reinforced ronin, anything that gives you more etbs and more etb triggers. and best of all, he's a one drop, so you get to go "mountain, norin, pass" and then sass everyone else for not advancing the board state on their turn 1

Attacking whoever you want with Norrin on your turn is the best, he triggers his exile effect on himself when he attacks, so you can send a message all day without putting him in any danger.

I played against this deck a couple of months ago. I couldn't believe this existed. When you sneeze, he's gone. When you pass Gass, he's gone. I was just glad I wasn't the threat. I just stayed in my corner and let the guy with Teferi's puzzle box try and handle it. (I was really under powered in this game)
