Ah. So Normal Diametral Pitch (DP) = Number of teeth / Pitch Diameter. Everything is clear, now. Except how to I calculate Pitch Diameter? Do I simply divide number of teeth by DP? So I am right back to the question of how do I calculate DP. Oh yeah, that's simple. DP = teeth / Pitch Diameter. So how do I find Pitch DIameter? Oh I already went over that, yeah. Well, at least I can count the teeth. That's a start, I suppose. And I can measure Outer DIameter and Root Diameter, but the average of them in your chart does not equal the given Pitch Diameter. So can you help us out with how to measure Pitch Diameter? Thanks.

The inch has been around a lot longer than the sillymeter. There are two types of countries in the world... those that use metric, and those who have landed men on the moon. We must be doing something right. Metric is for people who can't do simple math in their heads. Hey, if you don't want to use inches, then don't, no biggie to me. America is the greatest nation on Earth. We use inches. Metric is good enough for the little people, I suppose.
