Great video you get a gold star ⭐. Your video was the only one out of several that I viewed that actually showed you can change drive mode while the vehicle is moving.!

The Outlander’s engine provides maximum torque (181 lb-ft) at 3,200 rpm. In other words, torque peaks at 3,200 rpm. I have found that TARMAC mode centers your rpm’s in the 3,000 ~ 3,200 range and keeps them there. This effectively places the engine in the max torque range at all times. It allows you to have immediate access to max torque, thereby providing you immediate maximum acceleration. I believe that those who criticize the Outlander as being sluggish, never drove it in TARMAC mode.

Is it not bad for the engine to keep a car at a constant 3k rpm the majority of the time?
@Trucho001

@@theopeningset, I don’t think Mitsubishi intends TARMAC mode to be used all the time. I own an Outlander, and I rarely use TARMAC mode. Manufacturers add all these modes to current vehicles more as gimmicks rather than as real functions that drivers will depend on.

Yep, I agree the salesman didn't even talk about the difference, he just told me to put it on Normal and drive otherwise the Eco will make it lazy..

I just use Tarmac to get on highway. Mr. Mitsubishi By any chance, are there any hidden features of key fob? Like opening windows.

I noticed on the 2023 phev the tarmac setting actually used less power just cruising at 70mph then eco or normal. Any chance you could give some advice? Thanks

Eco mode is good for expressway, but city driving its has no pick up.

on my first long drive on the motorway, the steering was not comfortable, it felt like a lot to manage to keep it straight, a bit too responsive.. do you know if eco or any other mode relaxes the steering?

I found the same with the steering on my Outlander. Yes, too responsive and hard to keep straight at first until you really get to know the car and how it handles. It is however a great highway car with plenty of power especially when overtaking.
