They're comfortable, thin, come in multiple colours and fabrics (including thermal) and as opaque or transparent as you want. They make the legs look uniform and elegant and add an extra layer against the cold. Only Americans seem to have an issue with them and it's getting exhausting!

As for tights, when wearing new shoes, it's much better for children to wear sock or tights to help avoid getting sores and blisters. So I'm with the Princess of Wales on this one. A growing number of "rules" have been fading away bought about by the King, Queen and the Wales's, for example their boys wear long trousers, a no no at their ages for the King and his siblings when young. We have seen the Prince and Princess of Wales taking selfies with people in the crowds, the 'no selfies' thing is obviously untrue. Also, members of the Royal Family CAN vote but they choose not to because they are supposed to be apolitical. While Queen Elizabeth II was alive, some of her children - Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, and Prince Edward - did not have 24/7 security. They only had it when on an engagement.
