Yes Uncle Crazy. I had the opportunity of meeting him at Ray Holman's residence in Woodbrook just months before he died. It was such a humbling experience. I'll truly miss his music. I remember hearing the Caribbean Connection and Be Careful everyday on TTT channel 2 & 13 before going to school. I know that he's singing in heaven.

Two more brilliant compositions by the very prolific song writer, Merchant and an equally brilliant arrangement by the legendary Ed Watson, who was the go to arranger at that time. Note that Leston Paul and Pelham Goddard were members of Ed Watson and his Brass Circle Band. Of course, both went on to build even more successful careers as arrangers.

There was a movie, "Norman is that you", in 1976 with Redd Foxx, about his son who got a bit gay. Also, there was a movie in the 1960 called Psycho, the main character was Norman and dressed in his mom clothes, because he believed he was his own mom. There was a series called Bates Motel around the psycho character in 2011-2014. In that series, Norman's mom name was Norma. The Norma name is mentioned here 2:12. Interesting.

Sang the chorus to a dear co-worker and airline mechanic, Norman Brown, from Jamaica, every time I saw him. He'd say, "Yes, the one and only" :) RIP Norman Brown. Miss you.

Remember this from living in Trinidad. So different from the attitude that would have been dominant (still is, sadly) in Jamaica. Live and let live. All that matters is kindness.

@ desalines: I believe "Um Ba Yao" 1978 was sung by Merchant and it goes like this "I dream I was in Africa and I was a Warrior, hunting lions and tigers brave like my fore fathers Um ba ya ya O." I know I have it in my collections i will post it as soon as I can find it.

Great music he made his contribution. What will be ours? We all have some extra curriculum activities in our lives. Letz celebrate the lives of those who have kept us sane with good music. Sex is natural and to be gay is human. Choose your label.
