I'm sorry I missed this. Was working late today. I studied Norse shamanism with Renna Shesso in Colorado and found it very healing. Renna studied ancient Norse shamanism in Scandanavia (she did uteseita or being out on the land at natural ancient sites) and she also studied soul retrieval with Sandra Ingerman. So I was taught there are 2 main ways to use Seidr: divination and seeing (prophecy) and that there is a way to weave destiny and change the future for self and others. We did some "journeying from the high seat" which was very healing. I haven't been able to attend any more sessions because of covid. I hope to return in the "after times". Thanks for this happy hour. It reminded me of better times.

Renna talked about distaffs that were the spindle to hold unused wool and they were carried like a scepter to signify substance and will (things are spun into creation to direct our will.) And the Volva carried a metal seidstaff to signify her office. Modest priestesses carried a distaff. You probably already know this tho. 😊 I wonder if the singing was like the ancient polyphonic overtone harmonies that are still sung in Scandanavia. They are so haunting and complex.

Seidr was also a kind of folk magic. It has a lot to do with spinning and weaving. When women sat in the evening in thy home and spinning became monotonous, they fell into a light trance. So they created the spell and send it with the wind that came from spinning the spindle to certain person. or out into the world. Johanna from Germany

Have you ever thought of creating a podcast? I always want to hear you and your thoughts about everything witchy and pagan and such but I have such a hard time watching many videos this long, and others like myself love podcasts. But whatever you do just know you're helping people everywhere with all this information!

In some areas of ancient Greece Aphrodite was worshiped as a war goddess; so, she might be more like Freya than you think.

Something that I want to possibly correct here. I believe you said people who are not from the culture can practice voodoo? From most voodoo practitioners I follow and listen to, it is a closed practice and you must be invited in and mentored of you are not from the culture. I might have misunderstood you but I wanted to add this to the conversation. I'm just going with what I've heard voodoo practitioners tell me.

Born and raised New Orleans native here - From the followers you have heard say this, they may have been more so referring to the Spirit Religion Voudon not the magickal practice of voodoo/hoodoo. Here in my city anyone can be trained and initiated by an ordained priestess or priest and anyone can practice. BUT if that person is really wanting to work with the Loa they have to be introduced to them by the ordained priestess/priest first during a divination and the Loa choose whether or not they want to work with you or have connection with you.

The Sami evidently have their roots in the Volga region and are a Uralic people, they started moving northwest from there in the mid to late second millennium BC, arriving in the Finnish Lakeland from 1600-1500 BC, and their current homeland at the beginning of the Common Era. As I mentioned in the chat, both Tacitus and Strabo mention priestesses accompanying Germanic warriors into battle, though only Strabo gives a description of the priestesses "... were attended by priestesses who were seers; these were grey-haired, clad in white, with flaxen cloaks fastened on with clasps, girt with girdles of bronze, and bare-footed; now sword in hand these priestesses would meet with the prisoners of war throughout the camp ...". Where some of their description id different from that of the volvas, well some 700+ years separate the two descriptions, some aspects remain the same, the priestesses Strabro describes are noted as seers, the same as the volva, and carry swords which possibly links them to Freyja. Both Tacitus and Strabo wrote in the 1st Century AD, where the Viking Era and hence the volva, is generally given as 793AD (the raid on Lindisfarne) to 1066AD (battle of Stamford Bridge)

First off I really like your content. 2nd it's pronounced like seithr rolled r it's ok not a big one tbh. 3rd and most importantly as far as ancestor veneration you would simply worship or venerate your ancestors regardless of what ethnicity or culture you come from you still do North paganism as every other heathen you just don't venerate the Old Norse ancestors you would venerate your Italian or Cuban or Asian ancestors but otherwise you would follow the rest of the format
