It’s so interesting to get a snapshot of life as our parent’s generation knew it. They really straddled the past and the modern era. This was wonderful.

That's a great way to think of it. It would be another 6 years before I would be on the scene...and being born in Edinburgh I knew nought of this lifestyle.

A Scotland and Britain now sadly consigned to history. The whole place is a cowp now, both Scotland and Britain, an unrecognisable country. Oh I know it wasn’t perfect but it is beyond the pale now. I weep for my country.

England and Scotland are currently 💩💩. This was another time. Never to return. It was all thrown away after the War.

Irene, there is absolutely nothing silly showing your emotions of a past that some of us hanker for very much.

Hello , although these days had their hard times and struggles , I still feel somewhat sad that young people of today will never taste the simpler life of yesterday and for my thinking a happier one ?

Brings the books of Peter Buchan right back to me. I have them stored away safe, great books they were too. Laugh out loud books, but with serious stuff too.

The opening credit images are a mirror images of the Broch breakwater. D'oh! Also that narrator is using a very posh version of Doric.

The excessive Scots accent is a bit much. Charming nevertheless. Long gone today.
@jstevenanderson92273 ай бұрын
The accent is not Scots it is the Doric and far from being long gone it is alive and well all over the north east
