When Brayshaw was there, love or hate his commentary, but he set goals for the club & they achieved them. Was a stable place with Brayshaw & Scott & you could see what they were looking to do. As an outsider, I cannot see what they are trying to do under Hood, yes she talks a big game & gets up on the pedestal & makes the big statements, but what is she actually doing as the head of the club

North need to recruit better players, but if good players like McKay and Horne-Francis wanted to leave and did, why don't players want to be there. And with a new team entering, there will be less players to recruit.

I completely agree. The AFL isn’t a one man sport, and Harley Reid isn’t good enough to steal the spotlight from entire teams. As a West Coast fan who watches every game until we’re down by 100, I think Harley Reid is overrated. Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s great, but he’s still no match for the likes of Tim Kelly and Elliot Yeo. I agree he’s good for a first-yearer, but all of this hype about carrying West Coast, and he’s the only reason they win, is complete bullcrap.

It hurts seeing what happens to North, but it's part and parcel of the process of the shambles Clarkson took over. Trading in McKercher, Duursma, Goad, Dawson and Hardeman (literal 18 year olds) can't replace the size and experience of McKay, Thomas, Cunnington, Hall, Ziebell and Goldy. I think Clarkson is doing the same thing he did when he started at Hawthorn with a youth policy. Get the kids playing early, have them come through together, form bonds, form trust and do pre-seasons together. The hardship will be worth it if the club and team ends up being a quarter as successful as what the Hawks were under Clarkson.

@@Burningthunder90 Did North ask for a handout last year or did the AFL provide one based on the situation with McKay leaving? Either way it's too soon to know imo. If North win 0 or 1 game for the season then something has to happen and happen fast before Tassie has draft picks available.

There is a sense of shame continually asking for handouts. Do you think continually rewarding mediocrity is right ? It does raise issues around the integrity of the competition.

can you keep in mind that no rebuild doesnt turn around in just 2 seasons when the club was in shambles. These young players need to develop and theyre constantly under flame by the media. Coaches and players need time

North have been saying that for 6 years. The reality is our last group of youth that are now 24-25 have not lived up to expectation.. Players we really need like talls and forwards are sold off to other clubs. We finally get a future champ in JHF and we publicly criticize him over some minor bs then he wants to leave after 1 year. We can deal with losing, but we need to see effort.

NMFC have been in this situation now for a decade. We have had several coaches and good drafted players. We have seen the club dispose of champions, the latest being Todd who was the best ruckman in the AFL at one time. We don’t mind losing close games, what we object to is the disharmony in the team, the lack of belief, the poor skill levels and the hype of big profile names like Clarko. In short we have very little cheer for 10 years now. Ron Barassi (RIP) would be turning in his grave.

North made finals 14, 15 & 16. We then culled the list year after year, recruited poorly and haven't had any stability with coaches. It's never as good as it seems it's never as bad as it seems. North will bounce back soon

At least 5 years - probably more like 7 or 8. If anyone one can be trusted to see it through, it's Clarko. The media-spin is always going to be noisy, but the onus is on the club to hold firm and stick with him like West Coast have done with Simmo.

A bit of a stinker up in Gold Coast, but played competitive against the pies, won some upset games last year - may do the same this year. I dunno how long your rebuild will take until contending again, but at least can see positive stuff around your direction.

North Melbourne are TANKING, it's plain and simple and clear as day. They were somewhat competitive in their earlier games this season, but they dropped off ever since the Brisbane match and have phoned their matches in ever since. They've obviously seen what Harley Reid is doing for West Coast and want the first draft pick for next year. The AFL needs to stop rewarding teams for poor on-field performances!

Makes no sense, according to those like Cal Twomey who are usually reliable when it comes to scouting and young talent, there is no “must have” talent like a Petracca back in 2014, Nick Daicos or a Harley Reid. Collingwood tanked for Dale Thomas and Pendlebury in 2005, Carlton didn’t for Kreuzer and Melbourne did it for Scully and Trengove. NMFC are this bad. Doesn’t mean they are “tanking” as there is no real incentive to do so.

@@cbgg1585 North Melbourne are definitely a bad side, but they're nowhere near as bad as they've appeared to be in the past 3 weeks. They were playing much more competitively in the earlier rounds, they even competed with GWS for 3 quarters of that match. Now all of a sudden, the effort has dropped off and they're getting belted by teams like Hawthorn. They already know that they don't have what it takes to make finals, so they've packed it in for the year and have decided to tank for the next number 1 draft pick. It's obvious that they're not even trying to win or even compete.

I think all of the senior players have become demoralised and dropped their heads. After 4 years of beltings, they probably went into the season with some optimism. Once the first couple of big losses happened, they lost belief that anything was going to change. You could see in the effort on Sunday, the players were all putting in a lot of effort, then once Hawthorn got a few goals ahead, the effort from the older players dropped off, because they are so used to having games slip away before or just after half time.

@@virginiusmaximus7006 Sides that tank will always play one or two good quarters to make it seem less obvious that they're tanking. If they make it too obvious, the club could get in trouble like Melbourne did around 12 years ago. I still reckon that they're tanking. How can a team that was competitive against GWS in Sydney, get belted by a much worse side like Hawthorn? It just doesn't add up!

I believe players don't tank but coaches rest players don't play experienced players, play players out of position, cull experienced players. There are many ways to manipulate ones ladder position. Have North done it probably but other clubs have done it to. Are North hungry for more picks 🤔 probably 🤔 yes

'The bombers deserved to win that...'? That's BS. Clearly they played better for most of the game, but they allowed a team who were not playing so well, to get within a kick and relied, in the end, on a bad umpiring call to get the points. Nicksy said that if the Crows stole that win, he would have still be dissapointed in the way they played. Just beating an inferior team (on the day) might be hiding a few issues for the bombers too.

They go to the next draft they pick the best tall forward they can get their hands on and the rest of their picks all defenders. Anything else would be ridiculous. Can't win games with that defense and only one tall forward.

Collingwood emphatically destroyed a mentally fragile and poorly coached Port Adelaide team. Isn’t exactly a glowing endorsement. Port routinely capitulate when there is any resistance and/or performance expectation. If Collingwood is truely back they wouldn’t allow a middling Port Adelaide team to dominate the first 20 minutes of the game. A predictable outcome as it is apparent Collingwood is Port Adelaide’s boogey team. Furthermore Port Adelaide’s performance against top 8 sides is within the 30 percent winning range and even less against top 4 teams.

@@Burningthunder90 It can be both. North Melbourne are a bad side, however they are playing even worse than what they're capable of. Realistically they could probably finish 16th or 15th if they actually tried to win....but they want to finish 18th to get the first draft pick.
