There's only been 32,000 defections to SK since the end of the war-the vast majority happening after NK lost its wealth and got hit by famines when the Soviet Union fell in the 90s. Only 32,000-in seventy years. To put that in perspective, that same amount of people defected to West germany from the east EVERY YEAR when the Berlin Wall was up. NK's situation for the last twenty years has been as bad as it is because we've sanctioned their economy into Oblivion and virtually isolated them from the rest of the world. Obviously their government is totalitarian in many aspects, but it's not NEARLY as bad as the media has made things seem.
