This is a debate that has been raging in Britain long before we started shouting at eachother over Brexit. Which region is better, The North or The South?
As an explainer for our international friends the stereotypes are as follows. Northerners are friendlier, tougher, have stronger accents and are less affluent.
People from the south are regularly portrayed as rich, snobby, cold and basically obsessed with London.
But do these stereotypes actually hold any water? We got a passionate Southerner and a passionate Northerner together to battle it out and see if we can sort it out once and for all - which is the best region?

As a southerner, anyone who says the north hasn't produced the better music is a damn right liar. As one example, the global influence on rock that came out of Manchester in the 60s/70s is just insane. One city produced all of that music history and culture.

Let's put taste to the side as that's completely subjective, and just look at legendary artists with worldwide influence. Led Zeppelin, The Stones, Pink Floyd, the Kinks, Queen, Iron Maiden, the Who, Radiohead, Deep Purple. What does the North have? The Beatles, Oasis, the Smiths... what else? Some good bands like Stone Roses and Joy Division, but not in the same league as the others listed. The South wins all day.

As a Northerner, I enjoy the fact the Midlands exists, even if it’s for a selfish reason as to have a “separate section” between North and South :p - the few times I visited london (the only place so i’m not well travelled) it was... bad... then again I did see someone get mugged I think, I don’t “know” but it looked like it.

"Northerners vs a Toffee nose wanker" is a more accurate title. The guy clearly doesn't have a clue about the north and by the sounds of it, doesn't represent the vast majority of Southerners, I'm a northerner(was midlands but I'm more for the north/south divide than midlands) I've travelled to the south many times and met many great people, none of which are like him. Omg yes! I’m northern and from experience I can honestly say northerners here are FAR more friendly than southerners! Here in the north you can have a conversation with a stranger, try and do that in the south and they wouldn’t even acknowledge you

The 'North'/'South' divide is a geographical myth, Cornwall (the most southern part of England) culturally has a far greatly connection to the 'North' than the 'South'.
