Black Five 44871 pulled the North Wales Coast Express - London Euston to Llandudno, on Saturday July 6th 2024.
44871 pulled the tour from London with the Black Five on the rear. 44871 was then detached at Llandudno Junction (6G) and the diesel took the train on to Llandudno. There was a points fault here and later a signalling problem which caused a delay for the stock and passengers leaving the terminus 59 minutes late and a delay of 81 minutes leaving 6G for home.
The opening video shows the diesel running through Colwyn Bay with the opening leg, with 44871 on the rear, then the steam engine and support coach is shown manoeuvring forward at 6G while waiting for the tour to arrive from Llandudno, and then finally the tour is shown running through Colwyn Bay with the homeward leg.
