Recently we filmed some of the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service on Holyhead Breakwater, Ynys Môn / Isle of Anglesey using our 249g DJI Mini.
This was filmed with permission of the first fire fighters we met at the scene. We made absolutely sure that it wasn't an active deployment (because we would not have flown if it was), and then asked permission to fly, and film what was happening.
We asked multiple people throughout our flight to make sure they were okay with us filming, and even moved as requested multiple times as they worked in different areas of the breakwater. We were very happy to do that obviously. Cerys was very excited about seeing so much rescue equipment in one place.
They were rehearsing High Volume Pumping, which in this case involved them using two HVP vehicles together. We sadly only caught up with them as they were packing up, however there would still be a lot to look at.
We only had problems with one person and he had his eye on our drone flight from the start. He seemed intent on telling us off for something or other, but he misjudged that. The rest of the crews (from Llandudno and Caernarfon), were really superb. They were friendly, interested, and even said they might be able to evaluate themselves using our video. Lovely, professional people.
