A female northern flicker (yellow shafted form) feeds her pair of hungry youngsters at a tree nest cavity site I discovered adjacent to a busy road.
I've tried unsuccessfully to capture on video feeding time over the last few weeks, but finally got lucky this morning when hanging out with this family of birds.
It appears that the pair of youngsters are just about ready to fledge. With an average brood of 6-8, I'm wondering if some of these northern flickers babies have already flown the coop.
