A rare geomagnetic event is taking shape this weekend to produce auroras (northern lights) in a large portion of the United States. And yes, that includes our sky over Cincinnati.

I saw one wave around 9:30 in Youngstown. It was pretty quick, a lot of red on the whole sky and then a quick green waves toward the north. I couldn't stay awake for anymore 😴

They could be seen in southwest Florida, that's very close to the tropic of Cancer.

Back in the 1989s, there were two. We are close to the New Madrid fault line. I was completely surprised when the first one came, I hadn't realized.
